Row upon row of batiks, sashiko patterns galore, traditional Hawaiian prints and needlework supplies galore. Warm friendly staff who are fine answering questions and listening to your creative ideas! Also learned about the "Hawaiian" way of hand quilting. I was told it was not the size of the stitch that was important ... Once you choose a stitch length be...

The selection of fabric and handmade items way surpassed what I had expected. Not only that, the people here were so friendly and helpful. They gave me their card so I could call and order more fabric if I needed to for the quilt I was going to make. They even let me take a pic of the quilt I...

OK, in one week I was there 4 times. They have more batiks than you've ever seen in your whole life, more Hawaiian prints, and more bark cloth. Schedule a whole afternoon and send your husband to the koa wood store next door. Just figure on sending a box of fabric home. It's sort of like eating ice cream all...

Many precut quilt kits with the examples hanging all over. Simply the best because of selection, layout and service!
A "must stop" for visitors and locals. Even off-island Hawaiians schedule trips to Kapaia Stitchery. A loyal following of mainlanders and foreign visitors know they will find a large selection of cottons, batiks, and specialty fabrics here. Also a selection of gifts (many Kauai made) and books.
Order a custom-made shirt from fabric you select or pick one already made....

If you love fabric, then you must stop at this heritage building located between Kapaa and Lihue. There are hundreds of fabric bolts and lots of finished quilts to inspire you. The staff are knowledgeable and very friendly. I always stop and buy something because they have fabrics you can't get everywhere, including their own designs.
I found this shop for my wife to visit. While she shopped I talked to the owner, very personable. He was working on his upcoming west coast business trip. His wife was in the other room holding a class. My wife found some local Hawaiian material.
I told the owner that we find their store via the advertising they placed...
