If you continue several miles on this trail, which travels along dramatic cliffs overlooking the ocean, it leads after a few miles to a cave near an ocean beach. The trail is relatively easy hiking (beginners can do it but bring water) and starts near the Hyatt Regency property on Poipu (southern part of Kauai). The cave is closed but... More

Started the trail after the business area, no rest stops or places to stop for a drink, remember to bring water. Would have preferred to walk towards the town. Beautiful scenery either way. Make sure to wear a hat and use sunscreen and bring lots of water. Well maintained walkway.

I highly recommend this hike.Absolutely spectacular views as you you walk along the edge and view the ocean. The different blues are a sight to behold.

We started our hike from the public parking lot at Shipwreck Beach. From Shipwreck Beach, you can see the cliff from which the Six Days/Seven Nights characters jumped. The trailhead is just off the edge of the parking lot. There is no fee or permit needed to use the trail. We hiked to Makauwahi Cave, but if you don't want... More

This is an easy hike with unbelievable scenery. Highly recommended. We did it twice while in Kauai. Wearing decent shoes is advised and there's a beach at the end if interested in swimming. Walking out to the caves is a must. It's really beautiful.

Travel dirt Poipu road taking the left fork at the horse farm to start a 4 mile hike to The Point at Poipu. Trail is easy to follow. Stop along the way for great photo opportunities and to put your toes in the water.

Awesome views from this trail! 1st, stop and watch the surfers at the start of the trail at the Hyatt hotel. Trail takes you along the Cliffside. Rocky and uneven so wear closed toe shoes. We found out we could take a dog out for the day from the Humane Society, so we took Peyton up Sleeping Giant trail to... More

Take some time and follow the Heritage Trail Markers around the Koloa/Poipu area. They contain interesting historical facts that allow the traveler to go back in time. Maps to all the markers can be found in Old Koloa Town, behind the Crazy Shirts store.

If you like fantastic views of the ocean, turtles and rugged surrounding mountain, this hike along the coast is for you. It is a very easy hike along the shoreline. It does get warm, we went in the morning, so make sure you bring plenty of water.

This hike is easy to start. It's basically right out of the Grand Hyatt Resort. It's not a difficult hike, but lets you be on the cliffs above the beach. A short detour takes you onto the Hyatt Golf Course.
