I wanted to do a Botanical Garden tour while on Kauai and this one fit my needs at the time. The rest of my family was on a boat tour of the NaPali Coast and I could not go because of a recent back injury. This tour was a possibility and when I found that I could ride on not... More

We took the three-hour riding tour today because my elderly mom is recovering from a fractured hip. The staff was amazingly helpful with everything and getting her situated was a piece of cake. Our tour guid, Norm, was funny and full of fascinating facts about the extraordinary trees and plants on this gorgeous estate. I am all energized by the... More

We have done the children's tour on four occasions over the years. Here are the pros and cons from my point of view: PROS: -The children's tour is a "must" for the playground time at the end. For this alone, the tour is worth the $$. My kids still talk about it! -The guides are knowledgeable about the native vs.... More

This privately owned, non-profit garden was pure paradise. Our guide was very informative and paid special attention to everyone in her care (we had 4 in our group) 8 in all. The sculptures rivaled the gardens and everyone was pleasant. The views from the various locations she took us were breath taking!

This garden was really an educational eye-opener. I didn't know that 70% of Kauai's foliage was introduced after the 1880's. It has so invaded the native growth, that many plants are extinct or very close to it. Treat yourself to a "real Kauai garden" self tour.

There are many things I liked about this tour/place. We did the kids tour (so I can't comment about the other tours obviously). It was split somewhat 50/50 between the gardens and the kids village. Both were great. I loved overall that there was no timeline, no hurry, we just strolled enjoyed and took pictures, explored the flowers and trees.... More

The guide frequently didn't know the answers to questions-and I'm NOT a botanist. She had a deep disdain for people who, have brought plants/animals to Hawaii and yet was constantly praising the Doty's for their adventurous spirit in experimenting with new species. Not impressed with care taken of garden, invasive plants all over the place damaging the garden. Husband was bored... More

We joined another couple of friends and decided to take the 3 hr. ride tour. Our driver was a volunteer named Betty who was amazing. She was informative, humourous and her infectious love of the property could not be avoided....The love and attention given to the property by the original founders is amazing considering all they did in a short... This is a huge fascinating botanical garden but don't let the size put you off. You can wander about at will totally in control of your time, take a mini-tram tour (our choice), or--if you have children with you--take a briefer tour specifically designed for shorter interest spans and the need for activity. The volunteer docents are delightful--filled with good... More
