This place has suffered from the financial fiasco from recent years; however, it appears to be making a comeback. There are free Hula Shows on Wednesdays and Saturdays and a Farmers' Market on Tuesday and Thursdays. Several cute boutiques are located there as well as a great ice cream place and several good restaurants.

If you drive by the Coconut Marketplace on the main road, you'll think the entire place is run-down and washed up from the looks of it on the outside. However, once you park and walk to the inside of the market place it couldn't be further from the truth. There are several very nice stores for souvenirs, all with great... More

Every Tuesday and Thursday there is a great farmer's market with lots of local farmers selling their local fruits and vegetables. There are several shopping spots for souvenirs and locally made items. Not many food options, but a wonderful ice cream stand is in the middle of the marketplace.

This open air marketplace had a general store, outdoor restaurants, some nice shops for dresses (I bought 2) and shirts ( a cute Hawaiian one for my grandson) and a Hula show. (Sorry we missed it) We enjoyed meeting the farmers at the farmers market on the Tuesday morning where we bought some nice quickbreads, coconuts, pineapples, mangos.(I made a... More

Had a 25 minute wait for breakfast on a Sunday morning but no problem as there was a great little shopping area behind Eggbert. Great food and service while we ate breakfast. Reasonable prices.

Not much to see or do. Lots of empty stores. Nothing unique. Not worth the stop...write ups on the place are all overrated. Only good thing was the Lampperts Ice Cream kiosk.

The Cultural Center in the Coconut Marketplace (Ka U'i O Ka 'Aina - the beautiful of the land) the place to go to discover Hawai'ian music and to learn about hula, tapa (bark cloth), weaving, making leis, etc. Run by singer and kumu hula (hula teacher) Leilani Rivera Bond, her husband Darryl, a vet who now coordinates and organizes music... During our WONDERFUL visit to Kauai over New Year's, 2013-14, of course shopping for treasures had to be a little part! We enjoyed the shops in Poipu, but discovered that the Coconut Marketplace right at Ka'paa where we were staying had several of the same shops, AND is developing into a very nice area, with entertainment and nice grounds for... Coconut Marketplace is in the midst of renovations and can use a brand new stage for their scheduled Hula performances. The hula performances had to take place under store awnings for the meantime. The 3 keikis and and 3 drummers with the slack key guitar and ukulele performers did a good job performing under a sudden downpour of rain. No... More

I really hope these stores can hold on. A variety of shops would be nice instead of all the same items. We are staying in princeville and stuff is so much cheaper there. We missed the free hula. It looked like the stage there was really neat.
