4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014 NEW

After visiting the usual beaches, we were looking for something new. There were many families local to the area at the beach, and they were friendly. This beach was great - short distance from where we were staying (lihue/kappas area), waves were gentle in July, ocean bottom was sandy for ~50ft out and the beach was partially shaded. And best... Went on a Monday morning. Not crowded at all, but imagine it is packed on weekends and summer holidays. Our visit was only a few days after the new moon, so waves were even calmer than usual. Read that this is considered the safest beach on the east side. Went swimming with 13 year old son. Never had any concerns,... More

I spent most of my childhood on this beach, so I have many memories, thus me rating it 5 stars. Baby beach (Smiths side) is PERFECT for anybody at any age. Surfing, swim, crab, fish, jog, bon fires....I think I'll stop by there today.

A safe beach with outer reef that prevents rib tides. This is a long beach where you can also find camping. family friendly and beautiful.

We were told to make sure we stop at this park. The snorkeling is good and there are nice places to have a bite.

This beach is perfect, we found this beach 20 years ago when dragging little kids with us. Safe beach Beautiful calm waters to one side of the reef, and waves just a walk down the beach!

Great beach - go to the end to find a stream entering the ocean. very long - much more than just camping/facilities at the park. protected reef for decent shoreline snorkeling. great spot. plenty of parking, if you're not picky where along the shore you land!

This beach was gorgeous. Please be respectful of this and ALL beaches, we picked up some of the trash that had been left by other visitors. It was a beautiful walk and the water was just so peaceful.

It is a privilege to use this beach as it is on Hawaiian native lands, so be respectful if you go there. It is theirs. The public beach area is safest for children, lifeguarded. The water is crystal clear, no surf, sand and coral beach. Wear water shoes to protect your feet. The beach is a crescent shaped dream, away... More
