Nice beach and protected enough for kids to play in the waves and try their hand at bodysurfing. The restrooms are clean, as is the beach itself.

Lydgate, with its completely enclosed swimming/snorkeling area was great. The Trade winds were pretty strong, so the protection of the pool at Lydgate made getting in and out of the water no problem. Also the water was clearer. there were plenty of fish of several varieties to see. Had a fun time.

All the Kauai beaches are excellent. This one was nearby and great to spend time on. Take you lunch and enjoy a few hours with the waves. Sheltered area for children and beginners at ocean fun.

Protected by a rock wall, the snorkeling area is great for children and beginners. Not a huge amount of fish to see but a great place to practice your skills. Large playground, bathroom and shower facilities and lots of picnic areas make this a great all around beach park.

I wasn't sold on Lydgate at first, but I grew to like the small sheltered cove. Unlike most of the other beaches, I was able to get closer in to the rocks and check out the smaller fish and crabs that live in the cervices without the waves pushing me around. It would be a great place to teach someone... More

Lydgate State Park has it all, except somewhere to eat. This is a beach with a lifeguard in attendance. It has a breakwater wall and between the wall and the beach there are 2 pools made by the sea water at high tides. The smallest pool is for very young children, month to 3 yr old. The bigger pool in... More

There was an excellent childrens playground area with painted bridges for them to climb on. One of a kind, have not seen before! The walk in the Park along the ocean was very nice and the swimming area for families was excellent! We go there every time we are in Kauai!
