Dont forget to bring your snorkel. The area is very protected and fish manage to come into the area. There is also a lovely area for picnics on the grass and plenty of parking

This is a protected swimming beach with good marked off areas for children to swim. Lots of sand and sun but also good areas of shade. Very busy with families. Park overall has lots of parking and easy access from the main highway.

You can go for lovely walks, and encounter palm trees, banana trees, lots birds and flowers. Take photos of the beach, have a cigarette if you are a smoker, or find a spot to sit and read.

What a great find. The kids loved the two massive timber castles/forts. Quite amazing bit of engineering for the kids. It will blow your mind. Good swimming in the protected area down by the beach. Some good sheltered snorkelling for the little ones to see fish for the first time.

This is a great beach if you are with your family, with weak swimmers, or by yourself. It has a fun, calm beach. There's a raised pool made out of rocks that you can swim around. It's super fun (for everyone).

Lydgate is great for just relaxing and swimming with the fish. Rock wall blocks the ocean so its calm and relaxing.

The lagoon is protected from the waves and open water. Nice clean beach with facilities. Good snorkeling, especially for the little ones.

You can spend all day. The beach is good, there is a place for small kids and also the regular beach also picnic tables. Wish the facilities would be cleaner. Overall great place to spend a day.

I'm originally a "Jersey Girl" so it is saying a LOT to say Lydgate is my all-time favorite beach. There are scads of gorgeous beaches in Kauai. In January there are several you should not try swimming in due to high surf. There are some that are protected by reefs (Anini comes to mind) but they are shallow and their... More
