Owner description: Please be advised that the trail leading to Secret Falls has been greatly improved since November 16th, 2014. A board walk has been installed to span the ditches which have been very muddy for many months. Although the trail is often muddy and slippery, the overall hiking experience is substantially better. For those of you who hiked the Secret Falls trail earlier this year, all of the kayak companies thank you for your patience and understanding that the rain forest trail is through a wilderness which is subject to Mother Nature's whimsical behavior. Mahalo nui loa and a hui hou!

Never being to Hawaii before, I had one objective: snorkel, kayak and hike to a waterfall. We made a reservation with Kayak Wailua (taking care of two out of three wants), and that was everything and more than one could imagine. Our guide, Diana Silvestry (sp?), was phenomenal. Diana is not your typical guide. She actually took courses in botany... More

Four of us went in late Oct. everything was good: equipment, price, river, waterfall. Got good advice over the phone on mud-appropriate foot wear, and even used some loaners from the shoe graveyard. BEST part was our guide Forest. He was a riot. Worth twice the price.

Our guide, Lisa, was fantastic. She was so friendly, funny and easy going, and full of knowledge about the history and fauna of the area. We were lucky the hike wasn't muddy, as it hadn't rained the past few days. My first time kayaking was fun and the waterfall is a beauty. Recommended!

Took my wife and two children on the tour. They had initially canceled the tour due to rapid water, but Forrest (our guide) got us up there anyway. He was very funny, knowledgeable, and made our tour memorable. We also rented paddle boards from Kayak Wailua. Overall, great people, great tour. The trail was really muddy, so bring some throw... This review is for Lisa, the guide on our tour on Monday, Oct 20. The folks who talk about the mud and the trail being slippery are not joking nor exaggerating. I am an experienced hiker, had two walking sticks and hiking shoes, and slipped and fell and broke my ankle on this trail. It was extremely slippery, muddy and... More

Thank you for posting your review regarding your experience with Kayak Wailua. I am so sorry that you suffered such a severe injury during the hike. Last Sunday, November 16, several kayak companies corroborated to construct a board walk to span the muddy ditches. The three worst areas have been covered with mesh covered planks. Another less offensive area will... More

DH and I took the trip to the waterfall today. Diana was our guide and she was very friendly and easy to talk to. We learned a lot about the islands and the local flora. The paddle upriver was enjoyable and the trail wasn't too bad because it had not rained much in the last few days. They are also... More

Great experience with Forrest as our guide. He was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We had our 3 grandchildren with us and he was so patient and fun with them. Totally recommend them. This was our 2nd time and I would do it all over again.

We kayaked up to the waterfalls and back which was a half day trip. It was fun and we would do it again. We had a great and experienced guide named Kyle. Although there was a crowd at the waterfall it was still a great experience to swim and lunch there. For us the time on the water kayaking was... More

This is a great way to see some of the island that you wouldn't normally get to see. Lisa was a great guide. You paddle up the river about 1 hour, hike in for about 45 minutes, spend 30 minutes at the the falls, then hike out and paddle out. This is a great outfit to go with.

Cannot say enough terrific things about this company and their Guide, Jon/Johnny. Have been to Kauai 3 times with my boyfriend and each time we have Kayaked the Wailua River. 2 out of the 3 trips we had the pleasure of being escorted by Jon. Jon is really good at what he does. Whether you are an experience kayaker, or... More
