I completely agree with other reviewers that said "don't go out of your way for this, but if you're in the area, it's fun!"

Went to Hanapepe Town, and all stores were closed at the time we went. Have to go early to enjoy the little stores and Art Galleries they have there, before 5:00PM So we found the Swinging Bridge. Cool to walk accross.

I wouldn't go out of your way to see the bridge, but if you are headed to Waimea, it's worth a side trip. If you get the chance, read about the history before you go. One of my boys was afraid to cross the bridge until we saw a local woman carrying her groceries back home across the bridge. It... More

You walk on it, feel how it rocks beneath your feet, and you walk off it. Then, you walk back. Very exiting!

This was so fun! You walk out on a bridge suspended over a water way with wonderful views. Don't miss this one.

I would say that if you are passing through the area, you have to stop and try the swinging bridge. It is a good time. There isn't much to do in town so check out the bridge and move on.

The swinging bridge was originally built in 1911 but was heavily damaged and repaired/rebuilt after Hurricane Iniki in 1992. It's a fun stop in a cute town and not nearly as 'rickety' as it looks, although there are nail heads sticking up in a couple of places that could stub your toe. Locals use it to get across the river... More

It is a great swinging bridge. If you have motion sickness or vertigo, do not walk across. It is a nice place to visit with some nice little shops near by, and I think this is where Lilo and Stitch took place.

Interesting small town and swinging bridge in quaint neighborhood. Get out and stretch your legs on the way to Waimea Canyon.
