Worth a Stop to Break Up the Drive

Not a huge deal, but certainly interesting and a good way to stop and get out of the car and stretch your legs. Good view of the river from the bridge. Good shopping nearby.

This bridge is a narrow swinging bridge that you can walk across if you wish. There isn't anything too special about this. We went there when we were in town but I wouldn't recommend making a special trip to see it.

The narrow swinging bridge really does swing and clatter in the wind. It feels unstable but appears to be sturdy and has high safety barriers on each side. It's a fun little side adventure and photo opportunity. Entry is off the Main Street in Hannapepe and a good time to go is Friday nights when they have their Friday night... More

I had no idea this swinging bridge existed. While driving through the intimate town of Hanapepe was a sign for the Swinging Bridge. The surroundings are beautiful and this bridge is great and fun to across. The vegetation is so beautiful.

The entrance is by the Aloha Spice Market in Hanapepe and crosses over a river. Yes the bridge does swing and, sway - but you can also walk mindfully so that it does not. People can "pass you" . on the bridge as well so it's not super narrow. On the other side of the bridge is only a photography... More

The town is cute, but I think the most unique part is the swinging bridge crossing the river. The bridge definitely bounces as you walk across and there was a blustery wind midway across the span. There is a walking path on the other side which we followed to the one lane bridge used by cars (and there is a... More

Behind the spice shop/tile shop there is a historic swinging bridge that goes across the river. It's very safe and fun for all.

Cool old bridge. Guaranteed you've never been on one like it! Grab a good old fashioned root beer float at the nearby JJ Ohanas and Boutique.

Not many of these to be found. Makes for a good photo op. Nice walk beyond the bridge. The picturesque church is worth a look.

On a side trip to photograph the old theater in Hanapepe we happened upon the swinging bridge. We took a stroll across for a photo op and continued around Hanapepe. This is a good town for a local cup of Joe too.
