I like a beach where the water doesn't drop off which freaks me out. We could get out enough sowe could bounce in the waves without getting plummeted.

We like the long beach and the surf. The waves were huge that day and great for surfing. Next time we will grill on the beach. A little bit of paradise.

The beach was nicely uncrowded and we had a nice walk along the shore. We watched the paddleboarders and swimmers enjoying the small waves. It was nice just to relax and have a peaceful relaxing time. There was a nice breeze that picked up as the afternoon progressed, till it was a little chilly. Bring a sweater for later as the... More

Hanalei Beach is wonderful for kids. It's a pretty protected cove and the waves are not too high. My kids liked to boogie board here.

Surf's up every winter in Hanalei Bay! I was impressed by the size and consistency of the waves, the cleanliness of the beach, and the courtesy of all the surfers here. There are some great surf shops nearby in Hanalei that have a good selection of boards and even offer lessons too. The water is just the right depth that... More

We drove to beach beach a few times while we were in Hawaii, the first day we were here there was a kayak and canoe race event going on and we enjoyed seeing the competition while we soaked up the sun and swam in the water. It's like a lagoon that goes to the ocean and the moutains behind you.... More

Easy to get to if you're on the North side of Kauai and it's a great 2 mile stretch of "white" sand (ok, what they call white sand over here I think means that it doesn't have any black volcanic rock or coral in it, as opposed to Whitehaven Beach WHITE SAND, so it's still pretty course light tan sand... One of our favorite beaches while in Hawaii for 2 weeks in the Winter. The other north-shore beaches at Ke'e and Tunnels/Ha'ena were stay-out-of-the-water on the day we visited (lifeguard required), but when we came here, the waves were calm and wonderful! We parked our car on the sand, and walked 10 steps to set up our beach gear. (Parking... More
