This is the best surf beach we found on the north side of Kauai. The waves were great for surfing and there are several parking lots from which to access the beach.

Kee Beach in Hanalei, Kauai is a wonderful snorkel spot and the Monk Seals come up on the sand to rest. Lifeguards are present and the water is shallow over a very large reef, teaming with fish and coral. Very family friendly beach. To get there--go thru Princeville to Hanalei and keep on going until the road ends at the... More

Beautiful half moon shaped beach on the North shore. Child friendly location with swimming, paddle boarding, surfing, kayaking, etc. all available. Restaurants and shops two blocks away. Reasonable amount of parking.

We stopped off here in our way to Limahuli Garden. Off-road parking. Nice beach. Quiet cove, at least in September. Word is, the North Shore has wild water in winter. Across bay, we could see the St. Regis Princeville Hotel. Stopped there on way back from the garden for okay lunch. Also, stopped in Hanalei town, walked around. Like stepping... More

Not my favorite in Kawai E but a wonderful place to see and hang for a beach day. Hana Lei is a very relaxing town very cute and quaint but there are better beaches in Kauai.

No appreciable undercurrents, gently sloping beach, clean water, and I got to swim off of the dock where part of South Pacific was filmed! Am going back this next October to take SUP lessons :) Well worth the drive from Kapa'a. Check out the wet and dry caves just a little further up the coast when you are there.

Hanalei is a long drive from Lihue, but well worth it. It is everything everyone has ever told you it is.

you gotta stroll on this beach, the view from different location changes drastically. It's a bay, so the kids were disapointed by the lack of boogie-boarding opporunity here. We kayaked twice into the bay, the waters are calm with no big waves. The view on the three mountains (Hihimanu, Namolokama, and Mamalahoa) in the backdrop is majestic.

My wife calls Hanalei Beach her "happy place". Sunsets are world class. Depending on the time of year go surfing or SUP in the bay (summer) or on the waves (winter). Stand Up Paddling the peaceful and scenic Hanalei River right next door is like taking a canoe up the Amazon. Grab lunch at Pat's tacos, happy hour at Calypso... More

It's a long drive from the Poipu side but worth it for the gentle slope and beautiful sandy beach. Much easier drive from the Princeville resorts. Worth a trip no matter what.
