Beautiful setting in the bay. The sand is perfect. In the summer, there are no rocks. The water warm (for the ocean). Being on the windward shore, there is a better chance for waves. There are few amenities. Lifeguards, park bathrooms and outdoor showers are it. You need to bring your own drinks and food. The beach is approximately one... More

Wow! Beautiful beach. It's all sandy bottom and stretches on for I'd say a couple miles. Lots of room to lay out with bathroom facilities at most of the beaches along this bay. My kids loved it here and wanted to visit almost every day during our 3 week stay on Kauai.

This bay is breathtaking! Because of its size, there is plenty of space - no crowded feeling like Waikiki. It isn't hard to get to and it is most definitely worth seeing! I went to Hawaii with 9 other family members. We had a few days of adventures planned out in the Princeville area and the rest of the time... More

When I get weary and stressed out, all I have to do is close my eyes, picture Hanalei Beach, the pier and the mountains across the bay, and see myself swimming the refreshing waters off the pier. It is one of my favorite places to swim because I am not a natural swimmer, and not all beaches are perfect for... More

Beautiful, clean, white sand and clear blue water! What more could you ask for? How about beautiful mountains and waterfalls surrounding the bay? Our favorite beach on Kauai, and that is saying a lot!

We drove to Hanalei in our rental car from Lihue and it took only about 40 mins. via the main Kuhio Highway. My friends were in their bathing suits already so they swam in the beach/bay while I sat on the lawn under some trees people watching, taking a short nap, while watching all of our backpacks, cameras, purses, personal... Great for beginner surfing, swimming and watching the locals do tricks off the pier. Big enough not to feel crowded so there was plenty of room to do your own thing or hang out with others depending on your mood.

This is an awesome beach and good for swimming and not too far from town to get a bite. The pier end is where we parked and sat. The other reviews and guidebooks were not wrong. This is not overly crowded and the waves are calm enough to safely swim. Scenes from the movie the descendants was filmed here. You... More

Great spot to relax. Be sure to take a beach umbrella for the hot sun and the occasional short showers.

This beach was our preferred beach on island as we came often here. the ocean was very calm every day, the views in the bay are just amazing. there are a lot of spaces in the parking every day (even after 11 am). We rented a kayak just nearby on the Hanalei river. We'll miss this spot.
