This is a safe beach with lots of use. Close to pier is a safe boogie board area for inexperienced riders, move closer to the lifeguard area for larger waves and up the experience. Quite a busy area come early as parking is a premium. After sunset seems to change to more of a party area with beach fires. Pier... More

Hanalei Beach is a true Hawaiian beach experience. A long, long stretch of soft sand, marvelous waves to body surf if weather permits, a great pier to walk out on that separates the Hanalei Beach from the other side known as Black Pot Beach where surfers paddle out to ride the waves and paddle boarders leisurely travel up the Hanalei... Visiting the Hanalei Bay Pier was recommended to us by someone at another attraction. We love the views in Hanalei Bay, but had never been to the Pier. It is truly beautiful there and worth the visit. You can also see one of the houses used in the movie The Descendants - the rental cottage on the bay! Nice views.

We were expecting more. The pier, although very nice, is just a pier. There are 10+ better places to take a picture in the hanalei / princeville area. The pier is busy, parking is tough and the area is filled with "shady" characters selling "shady" substances to tourists. Get the picture?

My husband and I were on the island for 7 days and spent one of those days exploring Hanalei. This pier has just beautiful all around views , this is a very busy beach so don't expect to parking super easy, there are many parking spots but again it's a very busy place.

My wife and I decided to take a day trip around part of the island. Our hotel said a good thing to see would be the Hanalei Pier. This entire are is a huge local swimming, surfing place. A little tuff to find parking. The main reason we wanted to stop here is because this is where they made the... More

Hanalei Pier and the surrounding Hanalei Bay quickly became a family favorite destination. We spent two of our seven days lounging around Hanalei Pier and its beautiful beach. The pier itself is a concrete ramp, a few benches with an awning. What makes Hanalei Pier awe inspiring is the backdrop of mountains, the Pacific Ocean and pristine beaches. The pier... More

This is the perfect place to learn to surf. ( get a lesson from any of the company's on hand- we loved hansel wave riders {red rash guards}. There is no reef, sand bottom and gentle waves close to shore on either or both sides of the pier). The pier is lovely and fun to jump off. Th
