Remember, Kauai is a rainforest. After a rain this is one of the places to go and take pictures. There will be many many more waterfalls coming down from the hills, and the taro fields will be lush and the multiple colors of greens are breathtaking. We always need to keep that list of things to do when it rains,... More

With the Hanalei river meandering through the taro fields, it is a beautiful valley, and the lookout will give you some great photo ops.

On the road to Hanalei is the Hanalei Valley overlook which is well worth stopping for. The view is amazing. The mountains and waterfalls are in the backround. The valley is Lush, usually growing Taro, a local staple. What a view.

Worth pulling over for this. A beautiful lookout. I absolutely recommend stopping the car here. You can see farms and a river below. There is a perfectly placed palm tree to take a picture next to.

We took a drive north and stopped along the way. We took some beautiful postcard quality pictures and we were in awe.

This is certainly one of the best "pull off the road" scenic views we've done but don't get this confused with a more complete experience on Kauai of the spectacular Waimea Canyon drive. As others have said pull off for 10 mins and snap some pictures since it is beautiful.

You see the sign for a scenic stop, not knowing what it is, but turn in anyway to check it out. So beautiful with the mountains behind the taro fields. This is a preservation/wildlife sanctuary for birds. Stop and read the signs and take lots of photos!

Perfect place for photo of Taro Fields with Namolokama mountain in the background. We stop more than once when we visit because it is just such a beautiful spot.

Beautiful setting. Farm fields below and mountains in the background. Everything is green. You are elevated which makes for a good picture. Its easier to park if you stop on your way out of Hanalei.
