If you are heading north, the Hanalei Overlook is right off the highway on the mountain side - just past the Princeville Shopping Center. It's a beautiful view of the mountains and taro fields. If possible, try to stop when the sun is not so bright. Still beautiful, but your pictures will turn out better when the light is softer.... More

I am so glad we stopped. We almost kept driving straight, but the crowd made us curious. We had to know why everyone had this astonished look on their face. Of course once we got closer, we too looked astonished at the beautiful view that stood before us. The view is so beautiful, it almost looks fake, like you are... More

If you can afford to go to the lookout many times, its worth trying the view at different time of the day, under different weather conditions. If youre lucky, you'll even catch a rainbow dropping right into the vallay, unforgettable sight. The view is awesome and you can see very far, even on a rainy moment. Totally worth the stop,... More

Traveling up to this point was a curvy road all uphill. Definitely worth the little time to travel to this point. Beautiful views, and then a beautiful view going back down.

Not much to say here - this is basically a stop on the road to take a picture of the beautiful north shore scenery. Why not do it?

Take a drive and see it all. So green and lush. The entire area is gorgeous. Plenty of area to pull off the road and take a look!

the lookout did not have a sign identifying it as the Hanalei Valley, so we missed it on own way to our Na Pali coast tour. On our way back to the hotel we saw a lookout and stopped; that's when we realized it was the Hanalei Valley. It was beautiful, the afternoon lighting was spectacular. Glad we stopped.

The perfect perfect postcard vantage point to view the Hanalei Valley and, in my opinion, the best way to enjoy Hanalei beach (read my review of that). This was my third visit to Kauai and I never tire of the view (don't always pull over, just slow down to savor).
