This was the highlight of our Kauai vacation. We were staying in a House Of Dreams Kauai property and Kimmy from Kauai Ventures suggested this was the one adventure not to miss. So off the 10 of us went on what was a most memorable day. The weather was perfect, the seas were calm and the views were incredible. The... More

Family run sailing business offers longer excursion for just a few dollars more. Although the weather was not very cooperative on the ride out along the Na Pali coast (grey skies with intermittent drizzling rain), the voyage back was outstanding. To make up for the less than impressive beginning of the trip (no fault of the captain or NIck, his... More

Most Na'Pali cruises are based out of Port Allen on the south end of the island. Captain Sundown is based in Hanalei bay. Convient to North shore. You don't have to drive all that way to get to and from the embarkation point. No wind in the morning so no sailing. He only puts the sails out for the outbound... More

I will say that this is not the most picturesque snorkeling but it is the best way to see the island. The Captain and BJ are very personable and they make sure that everyone is having a good time. Great experience!

We gave a lot of thought to how we’d spend a last precious day in Kauai. After looking at lots of options, we chose Captain Sundown Snorkel Sail. We wanted to slow time down, so our holiday would not end. We wanted to be close to the beautiful ocean, and to witness more of the unique scenery of Kauai. The... More

As east coast land lovers, our family's trepidation about sailing and snorkeling was quickly forgotten. Upon our friendly greeting from Captain Bob and his first mate David, the convenience of setting sail from the north shore was key to us and having a limited number of guests on the boat allowed for ample room and movement on the boat during... We sailed the Na Pali Coast with Captain Sundown on August 4th. We deliberately avoided a sunset cruise and chose the day trip. This is what we knew going in: 1) it is an open bow catamaran, 2) the trip involved sailing with the trade winds going out, 3) the trip involved sailing into the trades coming back, 4) some... More

I did a lot of research (both on TripAdvisor and in guidebooks) before booking w/ Captain Sundown. My husband and I had high hopes that our "romantic" Sunset Tour would be the highlight of our recent Kauai stay — and worth the hefty price tag. Sadly, it didn't live up to our expectations. Before I launch into the reasons why... More

Aloha from Captain Sundown's Reservation Staff There are certain untruths that we wish to speak on in this review along with information necessary to share about our business currently celebrating it's 43rd year in operation. We had a pleasant time sailing on the Napali coast with captain Bob. A small dingy shuttles you out to the sail boat, shoes left behind for the trip, they can be a slippery hazard on board, you will get wet. There was only about 14 of us, so it's a little more intimate then some of the bigger snorkel... More

Having spent over a week researching the best (or what I thought would be the best) Napali coast boat tour I decided on Captain Sundown. I didn't want to drive from Princeville to Port Allen so choosing someone close to us was ideal. Email communication with them was great. I have no complaints about that. Every question I had was...
