We gave a lot of thought to how we’d spend a last precious day in Kauai. After looking at lots of options, we chose Captain Sundown Snorkel Sail. We wanted to slow time down, so our holiday would not end. We wanted to be close to the beautiful ocean, and to witness more of the unique scenery of Kauai. The... More

As east coast land lovers, our family's trepidation about sailing and snorkeling was quickly forgotten. Upon our friendly greeting from Captain Bob and his first mate David, the convenience of setting sail from the north shore was key to us and having a limited number of guests on the boat allowed for ample room and movement on the boat during... We sailed the Na Pali Coast with Captain Sundown on August 4th. We deliberately avoided a sunset cruise and chose the day trip. This is what we knew going in: 1) it is an open bow catamaran, 2) the trip involved sailing with the trade winds going out, 3) the trip involved sailing into the trades coming back, 4) some... More

I did a lot of research (both on TripAdvisor and in guidebooks) before booking w/ Captain Sundown. My husband and I had high hopes that our "romantic" Sunset Tour would be the highlight of our recent Kauai stay — and worth the hefty price tag. Sadly, it didn't live up to our expectations. Before I launch into the reasons why... More

We had a pleasant time sailing on the Napali coast with captain Bob. A small dingy shuttles you out to the sail boat, shoes left behind for the trip, they can be a slippery hazard on board, you will get wet. There was only about 14 of us, so it's a little more intimate then some of the bigger snorkel... More

Having spent over a week researching the best (or what I thought would be the best) Napali coast boat tour I decided on Captain Sundown. I didn't want to drive from Princeville to Port Allen so choosing someone close to us was ideal. Email communication with them was great. I have no complaints about that. Every question I had was... Looking for a great boat ride to the Napali Coast with snorkeling....this IS your ticket! Bob the captain and Dave, his sidekick, extremely experienced and knowledgeable! This trip was phenomenal and you could see fish and sea turtles from the boat is snorkeling not for you! Nice picnic lunch packed and well worth the price! I wouldn't miss this opportunity... More

They go out in rainy, windy weather and will charge your card $195 per person if you want to cancel your trip because of the bad weather. Not cool. It would be a nice trip in sunny weather, but no one on board had much fun on my trip - which featured lots of rain and, on the way back,... More

My husband & I were staying in Princeville; so, this 40ft. catamaran left from Hanalei Bay which was great for us! We took the sunset sail and Dave was very entertaining! Bob was the Captain and took us down the Na'Pali coastline! It was beautiful sailing with stunning views! Going there was calm with nice swells and Dave gave us... More

After first booking a sunset cruise the office called to inform us that because it was only the two of us they'd be cancelling--however they offered to fit us into the regular cruise as a replacement. Are we ever glad we took them up on this. Captain Bob and his first-mate (son) Dave provided a skilled and first-hand look at... More
