It can be windy, I mean wind surfing was invented here. It gets hot out there and the wind really helps keep it bearable. The snorkeling is very very good here, the water is crystal clear there are many different varieties of fish and sea turtles can frequently be found here (at least in Feb and March). There are multiple... More

I was thrilled to have found some small shells. The beach is very nice and a pleasant place to come to relax and enjoy the pretty water and waves. The day we came it was very, very windy so there weren't many people around. However a handful of people were sitting on beach chairs on the sand enjoying the scenery.... More

Never to busy, some shade, very relaxing. Always hit it a few times when we are on the island. Great place to watch wind surfing, and we love LAVA LAVA.

Even if you're not staying at the Hilton, you can still enjoy the sunset (be prepared to pay for parking $5 an hour). It's worth it!

Great showers and clean bathrooms here but the sand is rocky and feels like quicksand when you walk further out in the water. It's quiet and not rough due to the protective reef....but it was murky and not very clear. The beach is pretty narrow but there are great shade spots.

There aren't many places that you can just wade into the water and swim on the big island and this is one of them. With few rocks and a gentle slope outward, it's a great place to let kids play and a terrific place to watch the sun set.

We had read in a guide book that this bay was great for snorkeling but it was very rough...high waves and not good water visibility.

This was the very first beach we saw after our arrival and we weren't disappointed. It has a sandy beach with waves to enjoy that didn't overwhelm us. There is also a nice area to walk and enjoy the tide pools as well as the lava formations. The peaks of the mountains are clearly visible most of the time and... More

The beach is just beatiful. It might be one of the best places on the big island to view the sunset. What alos makes it attractive is the walking proximity to Waikoloa Beach Resort. Beware of the beach rentals: snorkel, mask and fins are announced at 60 USD a week. I do not know if they really charge this, but... More
