Good variety of types of Beaches on this one Beach

From the parking lot you come into a nice shady area of the beach if you want a little less sun. There is a variety of places to go as to types of beach. Go to the right and you... read more

I've been to this beach many times as whenever my family is visiting my dad always launches his kite board from here. Once you pass the Lava Lava beach club you can continue walking south to find a stretch of sand that is rarely populated. I love it here. I always end up almost stepping on a turtle sunning itself!

We went to A beach because it was near to our condo. There was little shade except under some palm trees near the entrance. The setting was pretty. The sand was a little coarse and had pieces of wood and little rocks in it. It was not a good swimming beach. It is a drop off site for boat excursions... More

I agree with other reviewers that "A" Beach in the Waikoloa resort area is scenic, secluded, and convenient with full amenities. On our last visit we discovered "Aloha Days at the Beach," offered by Ocean Sports, aka the activity shack on the beach. This deal, available on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 10am-2pm, gives unlimited access to all their water toys... More

From the parking lot you come into a nice shady area of the beach if you want a little less sun. There is a variety of places to go as to types of beach. Go to the right and you will be on the classic Hawaii sand beach, great for families and easy to go swimming. A ways down the... More

Going to "A-Bay"-the short version for the long name will not disappoint. It is a nice beach, but it is not a spectacular setting with white sand. Entrance is free, and parking is free. A grove of trees provides some shade. If you did not pack a picnic, you'll find a food court in the Queen's Market Place( but you... More

I could not see much in the guidebooks about this beach and was very pleasantly surprised by how beautiful it was.

We were on the beach almost every day, a bit rocky though, nice sea shells there, great sunsets, good water sports.

This beach was the closest to our vrbo so we went there twice. I wouldn't say it is the nicest or the most scenic beach on the big island but it is nice enough. We boogie boarded here and it was pretty fun for the girls. Quite rocky floor and not very clear water. On the plus side, we saw... More

This is the perfect beach just to sit back and lounge on if you are staying in the Waikoloa area. There are some areas with shade and some in the direct sun. Nice to sit back and listen to the waves and to view sunset in the evening.

Pro -close to resorts -scenic -has showers/ bathrooms and good parking, -waves not rough Con - water ++turbid (like a crappy lake - can barely see 1-2 ft in front of you in the water), lots of coral to step on (but not visible enough to enjoy) -++boats nearby off shore -crowded -sand not very nice as thorns and such...
