The beach is very beautiful and the water is very calm. You can go with kids with no worries. The coconut trees provide natural shadow, and you can feel a wonderful breeze. There are bathrooms at the beach and you can park your car for free nearby. Part of the beach is sandy and other part is rocky, prefer the sand... More

This was the first beach we went to on the BI. We are used to Maui beaches and this one was less than impressive. The sand is rough and not so nice. Not as pretty as I'd expected. No waves for the kids to play in. We did enjoy the lagoon behind the beach.

This is a small, rocky, crowded beach. Some people report seeing lots of turtles here, but we couldn't get past the crowd to the area they described. There are tons of better beaches on the island

We live on the Big Island and have for many years. Yet we had never visited this beach. As I usually keep to shady areas because of my fair skin, you'd think I've had heard about this. But because you have to enter it off the Waikoloa Beach Resort main road, we'd never noticed it. We found it by reading... More

This is a great place to snorkel and they have rentals too for SUP or boogie boards. Full facilities and a generous parking lot. It has a beautiful open bay for watching the sunset and now there is a beach bar to walk over to a grab a bite and cold drink.

A-Bay is an attractive, curved beach with decent sand. It is a very calm and protected bay, offering a good place for swimming. The Marriott has provided a big parking area and easy access.

Good thing for Hawaii's public beach access. A paved parking lot is provided, I guess courtesy of the area resorts. Nice crescent shaped beach. Sandy shore. Some food and equipment rental kiosks. Beach chairs appear to be open to the public. The day we were there it was very windy and cold but any day at the beach is still... More

If you enjoy sitting on a beach and people watching this is the beach for you. It is usually calm and offers many activities. There is paddle boarding, snorkeling, kayaking, and even a glass bottom boat. It is our "go to beach when on the Big Island.

We didn't have great snorkeling weather but we did enjoy "A" Beach. The lava makes for some great tide pools... we hope to return to this area and if so we'll definitely be going back to this place!

Nice little beach with clean loos but on the day we were there way too murky and dangerous for snorkeling. Beach chairs are first come first served. Highly recommend the Lava Lava beach club for drinks or dinner which is located at the far end of the beach.
