We were shown this garden by a local, who we had booked through 'Tours by Locals'. The gardens by the shore of 'Big Island', Hawaii, are excellent, there is a wide variety palms, orchids, frangipanis, gingers and many many others. The local tour guide was also in awe of some of the plants that he had not seen in flower... More

Having a rough time figuring out what you want to do next? Look no further, this is it. These gardens were stunning, the staff were very knowledgable, and the cute island frogs sing to you the entire time you traverse this tropical paradise. Enjoy.

This is well worth a stop, located along the 4 mile scenic road down the east coast of Big Island. The flowers are stunning and setting magical. You will wear out your camera battery!

This lovely garden follows a path down to the north bank of the island past waterfalls, all kinds of exotic tropical plants, trees and flowers. At the end of the trail is a gorgeous, wild view of the ocean, including a neat blow hole. We were thrilled by this place! I took a million pictures. A real gem hidden on... More

Not too far north of Hilo is this beautiful, nonprofit garden. Yes, you pay admission, but when you see what the owners have done with this piece of land, you'll be amazed. From the moment you start walking down the boardwalk from the road level, you will experience the feeling of being in a lush, tropical garden that you can... More

This place is simply breathtaking. I stay on the other side of the island and had to drive about two hours to get to the Botanical Gardens but it was well worth the drive. It cost $15 to tour this place of beauty and is a fairly good amount of walking but it is TOTALLY worth it!! I went snorkeling,... More

The gardens are very well cared for and it shows! The walk is easy and peaceful, although the return is up a steep hill and some folks were having a bit of trouble. Fortunately, there are benches for resting while heading back to the gift shop and parking lot. There is a gift shop with treasures and you can order... More

We toured this garden on a recent visit and just loved it! It has a pretty steep walkway up and down to the main gardens, but it is doable if you are older as long as you go slow. There are many many benches along the way to rest and if totally needed, they will take you to the lower... More

We had not been there for quite a few years. We are so glad we returned and plan to go again soon. The plants, trees, carvings, and scenery make for a very peaceful place to explore. Next time we will take longer to sit on some of the benches or tables and just gaze at the ocean and plantings. Always... More
