While in the Hilo area make sure you see Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden. The scenic road off Hwy 19 may be narrow but worth the drive. My wife and I thought the $15/pp was a bit high. But in the end well worth it! For us it was a relaxing 2 hours enjoying the beauty and variety of all the... More

Flowers, ancient trees, rocky shoreline, big waves, yet peaceful...and a bit romantic. The hour or so that you will spend walking the garden will be a memorable. My wife and I were amazed at the variety of orchids, ginger, bromeliads, etc. (Use bug spray before you go down; or you could get a few bites. We used deep forest "off"... More

This is our third time visiting and we had to drive almost two hours to get there but it wouldn't be a trip to the big island without visiting the gardens. We think it gets better every time. It is so well laid out with an easy to follow map. Don't dis pair if there is rain since they provide... More

This little place just North of Hilo is a slice of paradise. My wife is a huge flower lover, myself, not so much. I have an appreciation for nature, but normally a few minutes looking at daffodils and iris, I'm done. This place has so many amazing tropical flowers that I have never seen, I was awestruck. They come from... More

We had the pleasure of visiting one of the best tropical gardens we have ever seen on our recent visit to Hawaii. Located on the big island of Hawaii about 8 miles north of the city of Hilo. Located on the lush Hamakua Coast's 4 Mile Scenic Drive just off highway 19. Not easy to find because of Hawaii's restrictive... More

The cost wasn't too outrageous. It was well worth the gorgeous views we saw. It was just amazing to see all the tropical plants and especially orchids (my favorite). It was like walking in a jungle. The beginning of the walk is quite steep but it levels out farther down and they have employees on golf carts to pick up... More

This truly was a beautiful place to visit, even if you are not a flower lover, which I am. We chose to take the golf cart down and the driver was very friendly and stopped to let me take photos of some flowers he pointed out. We then used the trail guide we had been given and toured on our... More

I have never been in a rain forest, so this was a great way to see one. The price was fair at $15.00 a person and there was plenty of parking. There is a shop where you buy tickets and they also sell water and mosquito repellent. I had my own repellent and did use it. I missed a spot... More

This should be on everyone's Must Do list. This is the most beautiful rain forest type gardens we have ever seen. It will take your breath away- from the different gigantic palm trees, to a monkey pod tree, the orchids, the parrots to the absolutely gorgeous views of Onome Bay and waterfalls. There is a $5.00 fee for a golf... More
