The Garden is dedicated to the collection and display of the world's tropical plants, and to the education of both children and adults about the plight of the world's rainforests. What an incredible place! The entire facility and grounds are very well maintained with wide trails that are easy to navigate as you pivot and gaze in dumbfounded wonder at the thousands of magnificent plants, trees, and flowers. The trail begins with a picturesque boardwalk and then winds down into the valley through acres of gorgeous towering tropical trees and... More

The love and attention that went into helping preserve this unique valley on the bay is captivating. The plants thrive in these conditions. We found the Orchid Garden our favorite. Being from the SE US, many of the plants we saw are stunted houseplants at home. Here they are monsters that tower over you with their thick trunks and lush... More

My husband and I got here nice and early to beat the cruise ship passengers. Everywhere you look there are exotic plants and flowers. If you are into photography there are tons of subjects here. Just wandering slowly through the gardens is a treat. The entrance fee is a bit pricey, but I am sure it's a lot of work... More

There are a lot of great photo opportunities here -- so many incredible plants and flowers to see! Definitely take the trail down to where the garden meets the coast to watch the waves and check out the blow-hole. I would advise putting on some mosquito repellent -- they're not everywhere in the garden, but there are areas where you... More

Not to be confused with the other garden that offers segway and zip lines, this is a true garden with conservation and preservation of plants and species for the people of the world. The price might seem steep but the reward is being able to see the plants and the gorgeous gardens while helping maintain and preserve the flora. Absolutely... More

We just spent three hours shooting hundreds of pictures and gazing at some of the most beatiful garden in the world. We could have easily spent twice that. They have created a slice of heaven here on earth. Best $15.00 per ticket we have spent all vacation. More

Our first visit, although not our first trip to the island. Very worthwhile and beautifully landscaped. This is a larger-than-life garden, almost like being in a sci- fi movie. Not to be missed! More

The garden was very beautiful. One of the garden employee's was very rude.He scolded us for being in the way on the board walk.He was going up and down with a golf cart transporting people up from the bottom. He seemed to think the cruise ship passengers were more important than we were.He said we needed to wait til our trip back... We visited this garden during a cruise to HI. We booked our own tour with Mary Lou's Big Island Tours, more about them later in another review. A quick hint though, they were fantastic tour guides and they picked us up right at the ship The gardens are "a non- profit 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to the preservation of nature... More

Paid a visit to HTBG on our recent trip to the BI. We have been to all the gardens of Kauai but this was our first visit here. I have to say that this garden is much different than Kauai's. The HTBG is smack dab in the middle of a rain forest and the flora reflects that. Beautiful ferns and... More
