Fresh juices, bone carved earrings, and clothes from Nepal! A shuttle will take you so there is no need to rent a car.

This is a clean, well organized fairly large "Farmers Market" although there was more of everything else than there was of "farm". But the fruits and vegetables all looked fresh and priced much better than at Safeway/KTA. A lot of the trinkets are from outside of Hawaii ~ SE Asia (Thailand, Indonesia). There are of course the locals who make... More

There may be many others on the Big Island, but this is the one I visited and it was amazing... Awesome artist of many kinds and all the freshly made foods were delicious! Highly recommend this if you are on Big Island for a visit. I bought jewelry, clothing's, food and great coffee!

Great place to shop and eat on the big Island of Hawaii plenty of fresh produce. Nice place to shop for gifts to bring back home. Live entertainment in the dining area. I had a brick oven pizza from one of the vendors. Lots of other vendors selling food stuff for the adventurous people too. Be sure to bring a... More

Maku'u Farmers Market has been operating for over 12 years now. This market provides a venue for local merchants and entrepreneurs the opportunity to make some money for their families. The revenue from the market proceeds helps with the weekly market operations. Any small business owner will know the overhead cost to legitimately running a small business can be overwhelming.... What a fun market! We only had time to stop in passing, but I would love to have spent half a day there sampling the many vendors and gathering supplies for a wonderful homemade dinner. In addition to the bounty of produce and varied food vendors, you'll also find several of the same souvenir vendors from the famous Hilo Market.

Loved the market and the eclectic customers. Plenty to see and the food is good value and plentiful. Have to recommend the roast belly pork, absolutely the best. Lots of 'new age' stuff, friendly vendors, picnic tables and live music. What's not to like. Well worth more than one visit.

I've been to farmer's markets in many places (think Seattle's Pike and others), but this was very enjoyable and surprisingly large and well-attended. It was about 11:00 before we got there on Sunday and we had to park at the very end of the parking grass area. It is free to park and enter and well worth a visit. I... More

It is a wonderful market and the employees are delightful. Lots of people attend and many vendors with a wide variety of merchandise. However, all paths are heavy with one inch stone so one cannot push a regular wheelchair or use a power chair or mobility scooter. It is illegal to have a public venue that is not handicapped accessible.... More

The market is an absolute MUST for visitors. There is every souvenir imaginable, and vendors are happy to bargain. If you come early you can choose from every kind of food. There is always live music playing at the stage, and picnic tables are conveniently placed so you can eat and enjoy the music. It reminds me of the country... More
