Captain Gene and his team are very professional and customer oriented. They run his little business with flexibitity and honesty. I fully recommend them. They are the only ones that take you to the lava flow entry point in Saturdays. For us, it was the only option and I truly appreciate them willing to take us. It was great because... More

What impressed me was - I was due to go on a dawn Lava boat triip - specifically to do some photography of the lava entering the sea. These were professional enough to email me to tell me that the lava had stopped and what did I want to do. Other boats companies were still taking people out under the... More

We had a group of 6 and did the 5 am ride. We got in the boat in the lot and drove us to the water we went with a full moon. Great ride out to the lava flows. Amazing. Where else can you see this. Then the sun rose and it to was beautiful. Gene and his crewmen are... More

Aug 4, 2013 - it was an early morning, but we were fortunate because the skies were clear and the water was pretty calm. Capt. Gene got us on the boat quickly, and we were off. He wasn't very talkative, but his first mate spoke with us on the ride out about what we were seeing on the coast. He... More

This was a truly incredible experience, and Captain Gene and his one-man crew made it even better. The price was reasonable compared to competitors and a better value than we could have imagined based on what we actually experienced. We set out before dawn, just me, my wife, and our two kids (12 and 8). The boat could take two... More

Capt Gene & 1st mate were great! Boat was built for just what it does. Seats were comfortable & it carries a small group, everyone gets to see. Of the 3 or 4 boats out at sunset we got to the lava 1st, stayed the longest & got closest to the lava flows. We were very pleased & felt it... More

I have hiked out to the lava before and seeing it from the ocean really can't be beat. Captain Gene is such an awesome guide. We got really close to the flow yet the whole thing felt very safe. The water is bumpy but it's the ocean! I had never been on a boat in the ocean and I felt... More

Excellent adventure! We were the only tour boat at the lava ocean entry sites! (We took the 5:00 P.M. departure tour.) Captain Gene made MANY passes towards the 2 lava flows. We got about 15 feet from the lava. We felt the heat and saw the lava spewing and oozing and exploding. WOW!! The ride was choppy, but not unbearable... More

Excellent experience. Very friendly and competent captain and assistant. Ignore the review from Mr. OMG-it's-so-rough below. It's the open ocean; thar be big waves thar! Yeah, if you're prone to motion-sickness, you'll have trouble unaided. Be smart, take some Dramamine ahead of time and you'll have a wonderful time. I'm very susceptible to being seasick and we went on a... More

We were fortunate enough to do this trip recently & what an experience it was. Captain Gene & his offsider were great,we both felt very safe with the 2 of them in charge of this small boat. We had the best trip possible & are so very glad we selected this boat. The flowing lava was amazing & this trip... More
