Be fully prepared for a LONG, but definitely worth it hike! Bring extra clean socks to avoid nasty blisters. Once you're halfway, you'll wish it's over until you see the lava flowing and then you'll get your second wind!

Very exciting boat tour. The coastline of the Big Island is amazing and the tour guide certainly knew his stuff. I would recommend! No bottled water provided though ... Mind you, it's far too choppy to drink properly!

They charged me 145$ for a rocking boat and seeing the black rock formed by lava. But there s no flowing lava. I repeat there is no red hot liquid flowing!!! On the website they still boast abt volcanic eruption.

Customer reserved our Volcano Boat Tour online at their leisure in no way did we force them to do so. The Volcano Boat Tour assists passengers to see the black sand beaches, lava tubes, sea arches, dolphins, most recent ocean entry areas and the current state of the eruption of the Kilauea volcano which has been active for over 30... TLDR Version: -Hard hike, but worth it. -Wear sturdy backpacking boots if you have them (don't do the garden boots unless you have to; if you do, opt for a size on the bigger side otherwise your toes will get smashed) -Don't bring young children (<14) - But if you do, John is great with them -John provides a backpack,... Not sure where to begin here... having hiked to flowing lava before, my expectations were high. (I will preface this by saying that I am an experienced mountain climber (class 4) and hiker - not an amateur) I should have bailed on the trip when they handed me rubber boots that were a full size too small for me -... Your input is greatly appreciated and we will take it inconsideration to make the tour better. Due to the ever change of the lava there is no way to guarantee lava will or will not be flowing. The volcano inflates and deflates as it wishes it was you luck that a major collapse occurred on your tour date. We do... More

My family (myself, husband and our 10 year old triplet girls) did the tour on June 26th and we absolutely loved it! Yes, the hike is tough since you are walking through mud the entire time (except when you are on the lava field) and you have a backpack with a gallon of water and snacks in it (which you... More

In a sentence, this was one of the best excursions I have ever done in my life and this is absolutely the best group to go with, but there are very few people I would recommend it to. The hike will leave your legs/feet in pain and the lava felt a little bit dangerous, but it is well worth it... More

If you don't mind a long there-and-back hike through sometimes quite deep mud, and you really want to see flowing lava, this is for you. Be warned: it's tough going, tiring, hot, and you will get very, very dirty, but if that's OK with you then you'll find it worth it. John and Aaron (Epic Lava Tours), who lead the... More

We were not sure about what to expect while reading some of the comments on trip advisor. We went on May the 28th, and our guide was Aaron from Epic Lava tours (ocean lava is outsourcing to them). This experience was unforgettable, and everything was well planned: all the gear was provided, including water, brand new boots and bagpacks, and... More
