Kona boys provides great service (double kayak are rented with a cooler and a dry bag) although they will not rent for half days as it was mentioned in our guide book. We had mixed feelings about the staff. Maybe it was not a good day.

I did the 3 hour midday meander kayak and snorkel of Kealakekua Bay with my wife and kids ages 15, 13, and 11 to Captain Cook's Monument and had a fantastic time. Our guides were Lauren and Chris, and they were informative and fun. I would probably have enjoyed the longer 5 hour kayaking option even more, but with kids... More

We, a snorkel-crazy couple in our early-60s, thoroughly enjoyed kayaking to & from the Captain Cook Monument with Kona Boys. At this time, Kona Boys is one of three groups permitted to guide groups by kayak & to land the kayaks near the monument so that participants can snorkel in this wonderful area (Ka’awaloa Cove) before kayaking back to the... Super fun surf instruction and great patient guys! Everyone got up and was able to surf the 1st time out. Awesome experience. I loved the way the instructors looked out for everyone. I felt totally confident allowing my kids ranging form 8-14 to tackle this lesson. (They are already good swimmers.)

We rented kayaks from Kona Boys, so we could explore Kealakekua Bay. What a great company! They were well-organized, and had everything ready for people. Their place is right on the main highway heading to the bay (they also have a place in Kailua). Easy to find. They go over how to get to the bay, where to off-load and... More

We are very delinquent in writing this review. We were in Hawaii in May. We overheard some people in a bar talking about how much they loved their kayaking trip with Kona Boy's. We decided to call and check it out. They "had us at hello" so to speak. So friendly and helpful. Loved everyone we came in contact with.... More

I rented a Kayak and snorkeling gear from the Kona Boys Beach Shak and kayaked around the area. The large swells and general choppiness of the sea make it hard going but offer some nice views. There is snorkeling in the area and you may even spot a sea turtle. Also be careful not to venture to far out as... More

First of all the guy at the desk was very friendly and informative and got us on our way. When we got down to the pier, our guides, A.J. and Chris introduced themselves and went over some real quick safety guidelines. On our way over to the snorkeling area, we were greeted by a playful pod of spinner dolphins that... More

My wife, two teenage sons and I took the Kona Boys' midday kayak and snorkel trip to Kealakekua Bay yesterday and we had a terrific time! The Spinner Dolphins put on quite a show each way during the kayak trip to Cook's Monument (where the snorkeling was great). The staff at Kona Boys couldn't have been more accommodating to us.... We did the midday meander kayak snorkel trip and it was great. It works like this: you check in at the Kona Boys shop up on the main road well above the bay where they outfit you with snorkeling gear. It is more personalized than other charters that just hand everyone the same snorkeling gear. The woman who set us... More
