They were very nice at the counter but their kayak was unsafe for an older couple. They sent us to the Captain Cook monument bay, Kealakekua Bay, with a tandem Duo kayak. It's very fast but very unstable in the water. My wife tipped us twice, luckily the locals helped her out of the water before the lave rocks cut... more

We used Kona Boys to rent a kayak for Kaleakekua Bay (not sure how to spell it). I am very happy with the service and gear. The lady who helped us in the morning was very knowledgeable, gave great advice/tips, and demonstrated clearly where to go and what to do. The gentleman who helped us when we returned was similarly... more

My two children (ages 17 and 23) took an ocean kyak half-day adventure out to the Captain Cook Monument with Kona Boys. Their staffer was very knowlegable, and gave us a good deal of history and local information. The kids especially liked the fact the equipment was rented from a local family, who invited us to sample their fresh-caught sea... more

We took a a family of 6 on a private kayak/snorkeling trip into Kealakua Bay near the Captain Cook Monument. The staff at the shop was really helpful and super friendly. Our guide was also fantastic. This trip on a private basis costs about $225 per person. If you do a group it is quite a bit cheaper. Check out... more

My husband and I were contemplating of doing a snorkel tour. We looked online and found them to be very expensive. After discussing with our innkeepers at our B&B they suggested going on our own to a local snorkel spot called, "Two-Step" and rent all the snorkel gear we would need from the Kona Boys. We headed to Kona Boys... more

From the initial phone call, which was friendly and oh so helpful, to the actual experience, we could not have chosen a better group of people for our first kayaking trip. Not wanting to join a group, but also wanting to make sure all of us could handle the experience, we called Kona Boys to see what our options would... more

I was able to rent two perfectly suited surfboards for my cousin and I. The boards were close to new and in very good condition. We were in and out of the shop and paddling out in no time and the price was right. Very happy overall! more

We rented a two-person kayak and 2 sets of snorkeling gear from Kona Boys for a trip across Kealakekua Bay to the Captain Cook monument. The personnel were friendly and laid-back in demeanor, but clearly ran an efficient and dependable operation. Their advice about the local area and current conditions were very helpful. It's quite clear that they enjoy their... more

One thing that any traveler to Hawaii wants is to have fun and no worries. Kona Boys was recommended to us and not have been there before found that these guys knew their business and how to load up the equipment, give the instructions on the do's and do not's, and sent us on our way in about 10 minutes.... more
