The welcoming staff in the golf shop borders on RUDE. The restaurant staff is terrible: "Is there a bar at the hotel?" "This is a bar" "Is there a bar at the hotel that is open?" "This bar is open." I mean really. The golf pro was very nice, but the rest of the staff was terrible. I have golfed... More

This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me to golf such an amazing golf course. The fairways and greens were in great shape. All the staff were very helpful. The best part was the views. They were awesome from every part of the course.

Beautiful course with lots of bunkers - was really disliking the sand by the end of the round. Greens were really fast. Missed the GPS's in the carts.

Sounds like you managed to find a few of the 99 bunkers which, among many other things, makes the award-winning Mauna Kea Golf Course both challenging and fun...depending on your point of view. Thank you visiting and teeing it up with us! More

The course is lovely and very fair - much easier than the huge amounts of lava would make you think. Greens are very true but slow.

This course is beautiful but tough. The 3rd and 11th holes are stunning long par 3's that I could play over and over again. Lots of elevated greens and tons of bunkers. If your sand game is sub par, expect to rack up lots of extra strokes. My favourite course by far when compared to Hapuna or the 2 Waikoloa... More

This is a really nice and beautiful course. It is pretty friendly and not too hard. Of course, the signature hole #3 over the breaking surf is fun. This is resort golf so you won't lose too many balls. Definitely a must play while on the Big Island. Check out Hawaiiteetimes for discounts.

This is the second time I played this course in the last 3 months. I'm not sure how this course made the list of the top 100 public courses in the U.S. This time, the greens were punched and dressed. We weren't told about this in advance. A $25.00 "maintenance credit" was not enough. The course otherwise was in decent condition.... More

We are sorry about the missed service which is not a typical Mauna Kea experience by any means. Please contact our Director of Golf at 808-882-5400 so that he might gather more details from you and "right the wrong." Mahalo. More

Staying at Mauna Kea resort there are two courses within a stones throw. You can walk out of your room turn past the coy ponds and there is the Mauna Kea clubhouse. The better of the two options on every level. During our visit the number 3 restaurant was closed and the greens had just been aerefied. The pro shop... More

We hope you got a great photo at #3 - it is an amazing hole, isn't it? You'll have to return once the greens have healed to play again. Mahalo for all your comments. More

The Mauna Kea Golf Course is well known as the class act on the Island of Hawaii. Its signature third hole, an ocean front par three, is scenic and memorable even as it is tough and unforgiveable, especially from the back tees. Unfortunately, in the dog days of late August when the course is wide open, course and pro shop... More

Aloha and thank you for your comments. We apologize that the pro shop was closed upon completion of your round but, as we understand it, you were able to return the following morning and complete your purchase. We understand the frustration of not being able to accomplish this transaction the evening prior and again, we offer our apology. Mahalo. More

Excellent customer service from bag drop until the first tee. Great course, fantastic ocean views from many holes. Unfortunately, they don't marshal the course and the group in front of me was horribly slow. I had left my phone in the car, so I couldn't call the clubhouse. I would play the course again.
