We did the 1.5 hr ride with 8 and 12 year olds. Guides and staff are very courteous and often times you are with the owners family members so they take good care to ensure your enjoyment. The terrain is varied although all open fields and you are mostly free to ride where you like. If it is your first... More

My wife and I have ridden at the Dahana Ranch twice. Each time was an exceptionally good experience. That’s why I’m mystified to read other “so-so” Trip Advisor reports about this ranch. Our guides were not cowboys, rather highly knowledgeable horsemen and women. There is a huge difference between the two. The horses were well trained and cared for. We... More

We went for the advanced ride and although the weather was hazy and the views were not really available we had a great time. The rides are on working farm horses and there is a "no nose to tail" rule. There are wide open spaces and chances to canter and herd cattle! The owners of the farm are Hawaiian and... More

We have our own horses at home, so we booked this ride because we wanted somewhere on our trip to Hawaii where we could really "ride". However, even after specifically booking the advanced ride over the phone we somehow ended up getting put on the beginners ride. The guide was particularly rude. He didn't bother introducing himself, or really talk... More

I had a wonderful time. Loved that its a family based company and they are genuine. Also, I liked that it is not a nose to tail ride. Dahana Ranch is a so beautiful and the guide we had was awesome! If you visit the Big Island of Hawaii, I highly recommend you add Dahana Ranch to your "To Do... More

I went to the ranch with a very happy mood however ended up encountering a snobbish and rude ranch guy (he claimed that he is one of the son who went to school earlier on and just came back to the ranch). He had very rude attitude towards paying customers and spoke things such as "he's pissed off", etc. I... More

This gentleman would not listen to the guide upon check in. He was very rude and kept calling him "Dude". He was asked very politely 3x to please stand in a certain area( not directly in front of the horses ) before being loaded on his horse. His response was "dude I will do it when I'm ready". So after... More

We had a great time during our 2.5 hour ride, but this is a real ranch so expect bathrooms that are not clean, no snack/drink - not even a bottle of water - and it is quite a drive from Kona. The road at the end is a bit rough and no real signage. The ride is across absolutely stunning... More

Booked a 1.5 hour ride up and down the property. Outside of the sore butts, we had a blast!! Being my first time, I was given firm but friendly instructions on how to ride my horse, Hapa. Our guide, (whose name I forgot) instructed us to not treat them as pets or the horse would just do their thing and... More

Nice horse ride but quite pricey, and it was cold and drizzling compared to wailoa. A good excursion for families our 7yo twins loved it.

After a group ride around the ranch, I was up for more of a challenge : get acquainted with Western riding (I am a previous horse-owner and English-saddle rider). Kiyo, the charismatic ranch manager, suggested a string of 10 private lessons. My first lesson was under Harry Nakoa's guidance. He generously devoted way over the set time to explain the... More
