This was our second trip with Dan McSweeny's Whale Watching Adventures. The trip can be a bit hit and miss… our first trip, a few years ago, we got to see a mother Humpback with her calf and an escort whale but we didn’t get to see much other than their humps breaking the water a few times. We did... More

I loved the entire tour. It was informative and we saw dolphins as well as whales. Captain Dan is certainly very knowledgeable. They're a little hard to find, but probably because I expected a booth ir building if some kind as a meeting piece.

Almost 20 years ago we went on a whale watching trip with Captain Dan and had a great time. Saw lots of whales, they swam up right to the boat. So, when we were again in Kona recently, we definitely wanted to go out with Captain Dan again. I wasn't sure if we'd see anything since it was very near... More

Always a guaranteed sighting. We have taken Dan's trips 5 times. So much enthusiasm and information. They support whale research and tracking of specific humpback whales. Have seen pigmy, false whales as well as humpbacks.

Not only did we see a mother whale and her baby, the trip was topped off with the darling spinner dolphins.Captain Dan was very good informative about the whales and the dolphins. We did many tours while on the island and this was the best!

We were not disappointed. Dan certainly seems to know his stuff, and made it an interesting morning. We had a very successful morning, but it's important to understand that there are no guarantees of that. My sister warned me, from a previous trip, that you may have a great day, or it. Ay just be OK. The whales move quickly,... More

Let me summarize: spartan boat, nasty captain, overcrowded and unpleasant. On my most recent trip Hawaii, I was very excited about this whale watching trip. I booked 8 tickets and was taking my family, including my 78 year old father and 72 year old mother. The tickets were very expensive at 110 a ticket. We arrived to be "greeted" by... More

I went on the 7:00 a.m. trip and had a great time! You will see whales with Captain Dan. After only about 20 minutes, we encountered a female humpback with her calf and and escort whale. As Captain Dan explained, the escort whale is not the father but rather a male that would like to be the next father. We... More

We had read reviews for Captain Dan McSweeney's Whale Watching and we were not disappointed! This was a lovely three hours learning about the marine life, humpback whales and enjoying the sun. Captain Dan is knowledgeable and informative without being lecturing. He is cognizant of positioning the boat so ALL customers can spot the whales and he gives great tips... More

We went out on the 7:30 am whale watch and were not disappointed. Captain Dan knows how to find these giants and their babies and he's very knowledgeable about their behavior. We appreciated that and it gave us insight into what to look for. We were on the top of the boat so we got great views in every direction.... More
