This is one of my favorite areas of Hilo and sort of unexpected. The city of Hilo created a nicely manicured and extensive park along one side of the bay, with pretty green lawns, trees, islands along the coast, with many places to swim and tons of beautiful walkways. The huge old banyan trees covering the roads through and nearby... More

This lovely park is right on the Banyan Dr., so you can enjoy seeing all the old banyan trees planted by some of history's greatest. Plus you can stroll through the lovely park/garden. Don't miss.

If you are on a tight budget while visiting Hawaii, this is a great free spot to stop. It has a beautiful of Hilo town and beautiful gardens to walk through. Parking is near by and it is so peaceful to walk around. Definitely would recommend as a stop when visiting Hilo.

Large beautiful park with shade, walking paths with little bridges, Bay view. Wonderful place to eat lunch or just sit, relax, and ponder.

We were surprise to find this nice Japanese garden overlooking the water and mountains on our trip to Hilo. It's great choice if you want a quite and peaceful place to take an afternoon walk.

Beautifully Laid out and very photographic with ponds full of fish and small crabs, paths are a bit rough and it can get very wet underfoot as it rains frequently in short showers on this Island so waterproofs are essential.

Sweet little park on the side of the ocean. Many walkways and bridges to walk over and through. It is lovely for a picnic and very clean.

My husband and I visited Hilo in late December and spent a couple of hours walking around this park, relaxing and enjoying the scenery. Designed like a Japanese garden, the park includes a stone bridge, a charming red bridge with seats inside, sculptures, and numerous other striking vignettes which make wonderful photo opportunities. We were even able to unobtrusively watch... More

A beautifully landscaped garden with ponds, pagodas, fish, statues and bridges. A lovely place to relax or exercise. It overlooks the bay and there are toilet facilities. I enjoyed but having been to Japan I probably expected too much.
