These beautiful gardens are next to the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel. Staying at the hotel allowed my husband and I frequent walks through these tranquil gardens. From the gardens, visitor's are able to continue walking across a sort bridge to Coconut Island, a small island in Hilo Bay, behind the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel. Strolling the gardens was a lovely way to... More

Stopped by after breakfast for a stroll and photo opps. If anyone happens to be going to Hilo in September, try to go around September 26, which is Queen Liliuokalani's birthday. We went there without knowing it was her bday celebration and had a big surprise with several hula dance groups performing, music, food (for sale) ceremony, and two or... More

This is the correct name for this County Park -- Lili`uokalani Gardens. Another on-line listing names it Lili`uokalani Park and Gardens and still another Lili`uokalani Botanical Gardens, which is on another island. Lili`uokalani Gardens was named for Queen Lili`uokalani in April 1917 and construction on the Japanese garden began in November 1917. Friends of Lili`uokalani Gardens, a non-profit group of... More

These gardens are a great place to enjoy green lawns and big trees. The ocean borders one side so there is an opportunity to relax and listen to the soothing waves. There is easy access if you are driving. The gardens are not hard to find and there is plenty of parking.

Great park to take a stroll and relax with the kid. Nothing to dangerous here and mostly paved or gravel path. Daughter loved going from bamboo tree to statue over the bridges and water ponds.

The park is quiet and lovely. It made for a nice evening stroll. The bridges and water features are beautiful.

A lovely area to spend some time relaxing. You can drive around the outside of the garden and park easily. Very well maintained.

A quiet place where one can find some quietness and peacefulness...a well kept park, one should visit for a about an hour or two to collect your thoughts during a busy visit. Very close to the center of Hilo, maybe 15 minutes from the airport. Nice place to take pictures.... a Japanese style park. Many joggers here when the weather... More

They don't look like much when you first drive into the complex from downtown Hilo but don't let that dissuade you from visiting. Beautiful gardens. Don't miss the HUGE banyan tree at one corner; it's an amazing work of natural architecture.

We had almost missed going to this delightful garden. Thanks to my husband who, despite the numerous sunrises and sunsets we had already seen over our Hawaii trip, still insisted on going here on the last day (which incidentally happened to be a full-moon day). He had been there early in the morning and was able to capture some of... More
