I stopped by while killing time in Hilo. It's a lovely park for taking a stroll with the family. There are some nice photo ops. It's an easy walk over to Coconut Island so I recommend visiting both on the same day.

Very pretty setting to people watch. Pack a picnic and stay a while! Restrooms available, but with no soap (a common problem we found with Hawaii state parks).

We stumbled on this park by accident, and I have to admit that it is gorgeous! There are nice, paved walkways, and pleasant little Japanese bridges and decorations. This is one place I'd love to visit again, with a little picnic lunch. A great site in Hilo!

Enjoyed the tide pools/ponds with fish and crabs. Interesting bridges and walkways make for good photo ops. My 12 yr old son and I enjoyed this while our family members were on the helicopter tour. It is close to the airport. Great little unique spot!

If you like to run or in my case walk I'd recommend going here. And it is a good place to sit and relax. If your like me and find the Banyan trees fascinating this is a good place to go for pictures.

The Japanese inspired gardens are very pleasant and peaceful. Love to walk through the gardens and explore the ponds and graceful bridges. Great place to meditate or read a book. Grab sandwiches or a plate lunch from a nearby restaurant and have a pick nick lunch in the park. One of the nicest parks on the island.

While on the volcano tour, we learned the history of Queen Lili'oukalani. We had already visited the gardens prior to the tour and went back to see it again with a greater appreciation.

A nice spot to have lunch, but Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco this is not. Small kids may enjoy the walkways through the ponds, but this can be skipped if you don't have much time on the island.

The gardens are peaceful, with lovely scenery right on Hilo Bay. The space can be touristy but is large enough that you can find your own spot to meditate or spend some time reading a great book. Bring your camera!

The gardens are beautiful and tranquil--you can walk from the edge of them to what is now called Coconut Island, which is the traditional Hawaiian city of refuge--people swam to the island in hope of safety and pardon according to locals.
