We took the Hoppa On Hoppa Off bus around Hilo and this was one of the stops. As you enter Banyan Drive, to the left and the right are rows of banyan trees that were planted by local celebrities and politicians, Congressmen, and past Presidents. It's amazing just to walk around the gardens and enjoy the scenery. Our kids didn't... More

We had the day to kill before boading out plane. We took a day trip to the other side of the big island. Doing our visit we went to the garden. We sat and walked the beautiful grounds. What a beautiful setting in the midst of the city. We enjoyed out visit.

The Banyan Drive around this garden area and walking some was an oasis in Hilo and near our hotel and B & B. Not to be missed.

If it's not raining have a stroll through the park it looks very pretty. If it is raining - remember you are in Hawaii and it's not cold rain. Get out there and enjoy.

We have just completed our third visit to these gardens and park. This is a very beautiful place to visit and very serene. If you are in the Hilo area I would highly recommend you take a few minutes to see this park and gardens area.

This Japanese garden in the center of Hilo is simply beautiful. Great layout with wandering paths, bridges and fantastic photo locations. Huge, amazing trees. Nice spot right by the ocean with a great view of the bay. We bought some malasadas nearby and enjoyed our breakfast here. It's free, it's beautiful, it's easy to get to, and there's plenty of... These beautiful gardens are next to the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel. Staying at the hotel allowed my husband and I frequent walks through these tranquil gardens. From the gardens, visitor's are able to continue walking across a sort bridge to Coconut Island, a small island in Hilo Bay, behind the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel. Strolling the gardens was a lovely way to... More

Stopped by after breakfast for a stroll and photo opps. If anyone happens to be going to Hilo in September, try to go around September 26, which is Queen Liliuokalani's birthday. We went there without knowing it was her bday celebration and had a big surprise with several hula dance groups performing, music, food (for sale) ceremony, and two or... More

This is the correct name for this County Park -- Lili`uokalani Gardens. Another on-line listing names it Lili`uokalani Park and Gardens and still another Lili`uokalani Botanical Gardens, which is on another island. Lili`uokalani Gardens was named for Queen Lili`uokalani in April 1917 and construction on the Japanese garden began in November 1917. Friends of Lili`uokalani Gardens, a non-profit group of... More

These gardens are a great place to enjoy green lawns and big trees. The ocean borders one side so there is an opportunity to relax and listen to the soothing waves. There is easy access if you are driving. The gardens are not hard to find and there is plenty of parking.
