It's filled with startlingly enormous banyan trees planted by historical figures long ago. One was placed by Amelia Earhart, and another by then... More

But it is next to Coconut Island that is worth a few minutes. It's actually quite nice for a city park with some lovely Japanese garden effects.

Great way to start your day with a run around the park. Very nice park and makes those runs that much more enjoyable.

We stopped here twice on two different tours. It is beautiful here with the gardens, ponds, bridges and sites. The landscaping and other stuff here is well worth a stroll through. Very calming place with beautiful ocean view as well.

We stayed in a hotel near here and walked different parts of the park. Coconut Island is here and a great place to swim! Great if you're staying nearby.

Every morning, very early, dozens of locals walk these beautiful public gardens on the shore of Hilo bay. It is a delightful place and easy to find on Banyan Drive.

I stopped by while killing time in Hilo. It's a lovely park for taking a stroll with the family. There are some nice photo ops. It's an easy walk over to Coconut Island so I recommend visiting both on the same day.

Very pretty setting to people watch. Pack a picnic and stay a while! Restrooms available, but with no soap (a common problem we found with Hawaii state parks).

We stumbled on this park by accident, and I have to admit that it is gorgeous! There are nice, paved walkways, and pleasant little Japanese bridges and decorations. This is one place I'd love to visit again, with a little picnic lunch. A great site in Hilo!
