Great local surf spot

Beautiful place for those who just want to enjoy the beautiful Hawaiian coast or catch a wave at a prime local surf spot for beginners to old pro's.

This isn't a beach for sunbathing. But it is a great beach for learning how to surf because it's relatively safe. Just be careful of the sharp rocks and always be mindful of where you are so you don't get sucked out too far. But if you are paying attention you will have a good time!

This beach is 4 miles north of Hilo. There is not a lot of parking and is frequented by surfers. There are stairs down to the beach which are steep but quite manageable. There also are life guards on duty and bathrooms available. The beach is not large but it was not crowded any time I was there. I love... More

Nice beach for surfing and boogie boarding. Locals are nice and helpful. Great spot for a picnic, either on the sand or grassy area.

We drove the hour and 45 minutes from Kona to Honoli'i Beach to look for sea glass. Parking was on the street with the local surfers. The four of us were all very surprised to find chocolate colored water and not the pretty blue and green water found on the Kona side of the island. Unfortunately the beach consists of... More

This is a beautiful little park to just hang out and watch the surfers. Just watch out for the fire ants

About 40 steps to the bottom it is a hangout for the locals that like to surf. It is one of the few spots on the east side to do so. Parking is very limited as its in a residential area but you can drive through and get a few good pictures.
