Our tour takes you to view the largest and most active volcano in the world, the Kilauea Caldera. The Kilauea Caldera is a massive crater encircled by plumes of sulfuric smoke, and the signs of lava destruction are everywhere. The lava flows are constantly shifting, and our tour takes you as close as possible to see them. On our tour, you will walk through an actual lava tube which include extensive lava flows and Hawaii's unique black sand beaches. Later, you’ll pass through lush rainforest as our guide points out many native tropical plants, such as red ginger and ginseng. Our tours take in 10 major Hilo attractions ensuring you have a spectacular day in Hilo.

I thought there would be more hiking than riding in a bus. There seemed to be a lot of unnecessary stops. At A lot of the stops I felt were interesting you weren't given enough time.

I have given this excursion a poor rating for many reasons. I'm not sure if we got a lousy tour guide or if all of them are like that, but it was a complete drag. If you are coming to Hilo for information about flowers, this is the place for you. Our guide gave us lots of time at boring... More

We toured on a day when a tree fell down blocking access to the Volcano Park and a tour bus tipped on the second access route. Tony, our guide went out of his way to make the tour special anyway. My husband had injured his hip and had difficulty getting on and off the bus, and Tony accommodated him. Thank... More

I joined the One-Day Hawaii Volcano Eco-Tour with Discover Hawaii Tours on 23 March 2015. This included a return flight from Honolulu to the Big Island and Coach Tour there. It was a very enjoyable day and our guide was more than helpful, informative and a fun person to be with. The flight was good and the coach was nice... More

We would give the tour we took with this company the lowest possible ranking. The driver, Lance, was a very nice young man...a native...with much info to share. The problem was that the vehicle was an old van into which were crammed 12 guests. It was EXTREMELY difficult to get in and out of the van. Our main complaint was... More

We walked among lava fields, heard tales of the effects of the flow of lava on the local population, had dinner at Volcano House which overlooks the awesome caldera and witnessed the volcano erupting in the night sky. An experience one does not easily forget. Jesse, our native guide with Volcano Adventures, was the best. Friendly and knowledgable, he showed... More

Really great day and evening trip by Volcano Adventures. We had a terrific guide Jesse Kiefer, native to Hilo, who knew all the right spots to get to with lots of interesting information and stories along the way. Highly recommend this if you only get one chance to see the Hilo area and volcanoes - unforgettable!

We love The Big Island, but this year it was very poignant because of the recent (June 2014) volcanic eruption. We took a private cab up to the lava fields, cheaper than official tours. We were so close to the lava we felt the heat and saw the steam. There was a uniformed girl there who told us all we... More

of the Big Island of Hawaii. This tour encompassed was a whole day affair. Leaving Oahu early morning, and taking the not short flight to the bigger Island. I had no idea what to expect, and after I got there was amazed to see a dried-up molten landscape all over the Island ! The population was low, the roads sparse.... More
