The Volcano Tour was great, but I didnt see many Lava. Groundcrew was very friendly but the pilot J. made racist jokes over Refugees and Jewish people. THAT'S A NO GO!!

This was our first Hawaiian experience after being on a cruise ship for 4 days. The staff (Chenielle and Pilot Ryan) was excellent in getting us on and up in the helicopter. Very informative and educational. Beautiful bird's-eye view of the volcano and falls! You can't miss the incredible majesty of this island from the air! The only way to... More

This is our 2nd time to take a helicopter tour with Paradise Helicopter tours (the 1st time was on Oahu). We chose doors off tours both times. Our pilot (Rob) did an awesome job of narrating the tour. We saw lava flowing and got close enough to feel the heat. He also took us over waterfalls. This is a great... More

We took this trip last year from Kona with our grandson. This year we stayed in a VRBO up near the volcano and decided to take the trip from Hilo. We were traveling with my wife's parents and wanted to treat them to something special. After figuring the costs for the 4 of us to fly together and guarantee ourselves... More

My 2 sons and I took this tour over Thanksgiving week. It was awesome!!! Flew right over the crater and many "hot spots" where we could see the lava boiling and it moving to eat up trees and other stuff in its way. My 16 year old is wheelchair bound and we were able to lift him into the front... More

I treated my 94 yr old mother to this volcano/waterfall fly over in a 'doors off' helicopter. She loved it and was amazed by the power of the lava as it breaks through and seeps across the landscape. Be warned, however, the three step ladder was not handicap accessible. We were just barely able with the pilots help to heave... More

DO NOT believe the fabulous photos of lava, they are real but not current. Real photos would not justify the tour expense, IMHO. If you want to have a look at cold lava, go to Volcano NP or Kona. If you want to see red light from lava, go to Volcano NP 1 hour before dawn or dusk. If you... More

We did a 'doors off' tour which was windy and fun! The lava was rolling pretty good the day we took the tour. Do a helicopter tour if you have never done one over the volcano!

I found the helicopter tour out of the Hilo Airport a great way to see the volcanic activity and history of the island, as well as the beautiful waterfalls in the Hilo area. It's an interesting juxtaposition. The staff at Paradise are pleasant and helpful, there was a follow up call to confirm everything the day before and the pilots... More

Ryan was the best guide. We went open doors in MD 500 , definitely need a jacket and should wear long pants. We saw lava flow , spectacular, then the waterfalls and even a whale before we went back to the airport. If you can afford the flight definitely do it, You won't be sorry.
