To begin with : This review is based on my experience and what I think of it. We went in November and it turns out as the shortest person in the group I was assigned the middle seat near the pilot. To me that added absolutely no value. Might have as well paid for a cheaper doors on ride. The... More

Aloha Kelvi, We're very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your helicopter ride. We truly believe that the doors off viewing beats any other type of lava tour out there, regardless of seating, and actually get a lot of positive feedback regarding the seat next to the pilot. That said, we know that sometimes passengers have strong seating... More

Traveled from Waikoloa to do the "Doors Off" experience. All the staff were brilliant, from the check in staff to the pilot. The actual flight lasted about 50mins and gets you right over the Volcano hot spots, so from about 1500ft you can feel the heat from the surface lava below. From the Volcano you head over to look at... More

This was a Valentine's Day present from the ever-adventurous boyfriend :) This was also my first time in a helicopter, and a doorless helicopter!!!! They assign seats by weight so being the lightest one I was seated between the pilot and my boyfriend in the front row. I was grumpy about it before I boarded but once in the air... More

Aloha Echoytx, We absolutely love the adrenaline that comes through in this very visceral first-hand account of your heli tour. You are not the first "grumpy" passenger who has found that she absolutely loved the front middle seat! We regularly get reviews from people seated next to the pilot - the seat with the most panoramic views - saying they... More

To see some of the spectacular scenery of Hawaii, a helicopter trip is a must. We were recommended Paradise Helicopters and we were not disappointed with the service, the flight and the pilot. We were disappointed that the weather was rather average on the day we booked and there were nothing we could do about that! The safety briefing was... More

The doors-off volcano and waterfall tour was great fun. The office staff and pilot were friendly and professional. The pilot manoevered to ensure everyone got the best views. Attention to safety was excellent. Highly recommended.

Took the Circle of Fire trip. We chose the doors off option. WOW! No clouds the day we went so, Pete our pilot, flew right over the volcano. We got close enough to see the new red lava flow, feel the heat and smell the sulfur. A helicopter with the doors off is the only way to see the volcano!... More

Best way to see the volcano, feel the heat, smell it, see the lava. We took the small helicopter with doors off and it is absolutely the best possible view as compared to the larger helicopters, especially with our doors off. Our pilot was Reece (from New Zealand) and his narrations as we flew around the volcano are very informative... More

This review does not comment on the views we saw on Jan 5, 2015 which was very disappointing, but how Paradise is not the company to go with if you want to take decent photos. We took the doors off tour on Kauai the day before with Mauna Loa Helicopter, it was jaw-dropping. Originally I contacted Jack Harter, the other... More

My boyfriend and I ventured to Hilo to take the Doors-Off Lava and Waterfall tour with Paradise Helicopters. It is safe to say that this was an exhilarating tour. Our pilot, Reese, was confident and professional. It is clear that he is very experienced flying his bird and thoroughly enjoys his work. He also did a great job at being... More
