Wife and 2 kids did the 'Doors Off' tour and loved every minute. We were lucky to see a good amount of orange lava bubbling in a large side crater next to the main crater and saw some lava flows and various burning trees. No doors made all the difference and for our children was a thrilling addition to an... More

My wife and I had booked the Doors-Off Volcano tour with Paradise. We had booked through a 3rd party, HawaiiDiscount.com, but everything still went smoothly. They called us a day before to confirm the booking. On the day of the tour, prior to boarding, we were given our security briefing, which was handled well, without being too monotonous. Thereafter, we... More

Seeing the volcano on the Big Island has always been on my bucket list, my husband is deathly afraid of heights, so it seemed unlikely. He was nice enough to say that he would go, even though he was a little shocked that I picked the helicopter without doors! It is totally open to the elements. The staff was great... More

My husband and I are amateur photographers so we chose to book a tour on the Extreme Volcanoes and Waterfall helicopter ride. Not having doors allowed us great photo opportunities. The customer service was fantastic, the pilot was great, and we saw the volcano, Hilo, and the surrounding area in a way only possible from the air. If you are... More

We choose this company because to our knowledge it is the only one that you can do the helicopter ride with doors off. It was great and one of the highlights of the trip. Besides the winds being strong when on the air without the doors, the noise is such that you can’t hear the pilot. So, once you get... More

A very enjoyable lava and waterfalls trip with Ryan as our pilot. He gave us an informative commentary and a few local anecdotes that added to the experience. We went up in the Hughes which is a very enjoyable chopper to ride in and a vast imjprovement on the Robinsons I've taken trips in before here in Australia,. Ryan gave... More

It was our first time on the Big Island and we wanted to do activities that we pretty much can't do elsewhere and this no-door helicopter ride counts! We had taken helicopter tours once before to the Grand Canyon, so we have something to compare to. Pro: - No Doors! It really adds to the experience. You smell the volcanic... More

We took their helicopter tour of the volcano. Don't expect the dramatic lava shooting up in the air like the videos you have seen. It is unpredictable and most often you will just see it bubbling up a little. And don't arrive too early since there is nothing to do at the airport unless you have a plane ticket and... More

The ONLY way to see the flowing lava on the big island! We took a day trip from Honolulu just to do this helicopter tour & it was worth it. We had the doors on (not sure if you can request doors off or what - ours just said the doors would be on which was fine with me!!). Amazing... More

On of the main reasons that I visited the Big Island of Hawaii was to see an active volcano, and this was was definitely the way to see one. We were picked up from our hotel and delivered to the flight center door, where the friendly staff made us welcome, after a very comprehensive safety talk we were ready to... More
