We'd heard from many people that the one thing we had to do in Hawaii was to go on a helicopter tour. We checked out all the companies providing tours and Safari was the cheapest. Neither my husband nor myself had ever been on a helicopter before, so we were a little nervous. But once we got in the chopper... More

Heights are not my thing. My wife wanted to see the lava flows on Kilauea. She wanted to go on one of the tours with open doors. I wanted closed doors and an inside seat. She got to cross off seeing Kilauea and riding on a helicopter from her bucket list. I got to live to see another day. Seriously,... More

We (2 adults, 1 4 year old child) booked the deluxe volcano tour and went on the 50 minute, 2:30 pm flight last week. The weather was cloudy in Hilo with scattered showers between the airport and the Pu'u fissure, west of Pahoa. When booking with Safari rather than other carriers - we had flown with Blue Hawaiian in Maui... More

If this customer flew with Blue Hawaiian they would have experienced the same constraints at a higher cost per person than Safari. The National Park is very restrictive on where any aerial sightseeing tour is allowed to fly. We are restricted from the Kilauea crater area due aerial noise where the general public is concentrated. In addition, the National Park... More

The rain broke just in time for our trip. The volcano was an amazing sight and you got a real good idea of the power of nature. Capt. Gardner was very knowledgable and gave a good commentary. We loved it and would highly recommend Safari. Thanks so much for making the long drive so worthwhile.

The best way to view the volcano is in a helicopter. The pilot provided a great narrative of the area and flew back and forth several times so everyone could get a photograph. He was an excellent pilot and provided a very smooth ride.

We went on the Volcano Safari which is about 45 mins and flies right over the volcano. We saw lava burning the vegetation. The pilot gave a running commentary in a low talking Clint Eastwood type of voice - very enjoyable as were the girl who gave us our safety demonstration - very friendly. We had a family of 4... Worth every penny. A once in a lifetime opportunity. See the most breath taking things nature can offer. Paka is an amazing pilot he's local and knowledgeable. We will be back to experience this again.

My two girls and I had an awesome time. Paul was our pilot. He did a great job making sure we all got a view. both sides of the helicopter got equal time viewing the sites. Seeing the forest being taken over by the lava was a sight to see. You could see the trees burning as the lava crept... More

I've flown in helicopters into Grand Canyon and from Maui to Molokai and back through the West Maui Mountains but never circling above a volcanic vent pumping steam and hot lava. It was awesome. Captain Paul was informative and kept the ride smooth and steady. We were booked on the early morning flight but it was windy and raining so... More

Our flight over the volcano was one of the highlights of our 2 week Hawaii holiday. We took our 5 your old son up for his birthday and he loved it. The day before we had walked through the national park and through the crater walk - so to get another perspective from above was awesome. Superb value - and... More
