I have booked this adventure well in advance based on the description on the website and both my husband and I were very excited about flying over the upcoming flowing lava to the ocean (or at least that is what we were expecting). First, when we arrived to the check point, we were told that parking was not included (even... More

The State Airports Division controls parking at the Commuter Air terminal as well as at the Main terminal. We are prohibited from selling food or drink at the Commuter Air terminal, this also controlled by the State. Our web site and brochures state that we go to the site of the current volcanic activity. This flight was not 45 minutes... More

And. . . waste of money. Didn't see anything other than gray lava flows from along time ago. The only red vent was so far away it looked like a small red stiipe in the distance. No dipping the helicopter down for a better view. Even the pathetic waterfalls were so far away and passed so quickly they were easily... More

We are sorry this customer was disappointed however, as stated on our web site and in our brochures, viewing lava on the surface is not guaranteed. Unless it is a major outflow, lava is gray in the daylight. Because of FAA regulations we are limited to 500 feet above ground at site-specific areas, which can cause the views to seem... More

We drove over to Hilo to catch our tour thinking it would give us more time seeing the volcano and terrain. Don't bother upgrading to the deluxe tour as all you see is a pathetic waterfall..from the air anyway. The volcano wasn't active, except for steam. A few outbreaks of molten lava over the area, otherwise looked just the same... More

We are sorry this customer was disappointed with their tour of the volcano and waterfalls. The volcano is active. However it is not spewing lava into the air and hasn’t done that since 1985. Because of the extreme heat of the lava, heavy rain in the area does produce a great deal of steam and can restrict the tour from... More

Paid for a 55 minute tour that was squeezed into 45 minutes, not flight time but total time. Every other helicopter tour we have taken you could ask the pilot a question or two. Not this one he didn't want to have anything to do with the paying passengers. The ground manager couldn't even get him to look up when... More

All our flights are advertised as being 50 – 55 minutes long. Based on the video record of the flight, their flight was 50 minutes long from takeoff to touchdown as measured by a meter that measures only flight time. During the pre-takeoff briefing, the pilots inform the passengers that there may be times that they are unable to communicate... More

We took the Deluxe tour. So we got to fly over the erupting volcano and seen some beautiful waterfalls. We hovered a bit to see the hot lava through one of the holes. Only complaint trip to short. Should have booked a longer one. What beautiful sites and scenery I am sure there are many more on the island.

I never ever wanted to get into a helicopter. I'm so glad my fiancé got me to do this. Safari has the best prices on the web that I could find. Some of the tour books in Hawaii show slightly cheaper rates but don't disclose the name of the tour company. We just did the volcano tour which ended up... More

I would definitely recommend doing a helicopter tour on this island. Ours went for 45mins, out of Hilo, and we were lucky it wasn't cancelled due to bad weather. The pilot was knowledgable about the local area and gave us some good information. It probably depends on the weather but we saw the vent at ?, flew over the lava... More

The ride was great, there was lava flow but not in huge quantity. I have booked in advance to request for a front window seat. This is important as the whole trip is about the view. It has to be a window seat and front right most so that you are not in between the pilot and another passenger. (3... More

First two flights were cancelled but ours went up. Always felt safe. Rain over volcano kept us from seeing the lava, but was able to see around volcano and waterfalls.
