My partner and I took a 45min helicopter ride with Safari helicopter tours over the lava flow area out of Hilo, and over a series of waterfalls and coast, and really enjoyed it. The Safari staff were professional, friendly and helpful, and we felt in good hands with our pilot, who was also very informative about the volcano and the... More

Very much worthwhile. Our pilot went out of his way to answer all the questions (and there were many) posed by our 12-year-old girls as we flew with him over the hot flowing lava.

I took my son on the one hour lava and water falls tour. It was great. truly one of the highlights of my life thus far. I brought my 6 year old son who had the time of his life. It was for the most part a perfect day to view the lava flow that was advancing on the town... More

I suffer from Motion sickness. Even though ride get little bumpy towards the end. I would still recommend this tour if people want to see molten lava. This is the only way to see molten lava and they take you to areas outside national park. Which is why I will recommend to eat motion sickness tablet if you have to... More

Safari went out of their way to accommodate our needs, being prepared to wait as we arrived on a connecting flight. Tom, the pilot, worked hard to find lava views - and succeeded! A great flight with friendly professional staff.

This was great. You actually fly over the volcano opening. A once in a lifetime experience. Our pilot Tom was fantastic. He was informative and helpful. If there was something we wanted to see again or from a different angle he would easily take us to what we wanted to see. Found this tour worth every penny. Free pick up... More

We were greeted by Dorene, who was full of energy & so nice! She checked us in, did the safety briefing, buckled us into the helicopter, and helped us out when we landed. She was full of the "aloha spirit" and we loved that! Our pilot, Gardner, kept was knowledgeable and showed us great views to the volcano & waterfalls.... More

The only way to see the red hot Lava as of last week was to go up in the helicopter because the lava was flowing in the middle of nowhere. The experience was amazing and worth every penny. Plus on the way back we got to see some waterfalls and our cruise ship THE PRIDE OF AMERICA sitting in port... More

The main reason for us to take this tour was to see lava flow. We asked them if this was possible in different ways and they kept on being very evasive, promising that we would see some lava. Well, we saw few embers here and there........ after spending nearly $400 for the both of us. The saving grace was flying... More

My wife, daughters and I flew with Safari helicopters from Hilo. Our pilot was Gartner and he was absolutely amazing as a pilot. We flew out on the last flight of the day (3:45 check-in). Our safety demonstration was from Doreen and see was wonderful and immensely patient with my teenage daughter texting on her phone. We took off and... More
