My daughter and I visited Hilo a few years back and came to Coconut Island. The only difference this visit was the sign warning of falling coconuts had graffiti. Other than that, it is still delightful.

Not much of an attraction - but the beauty is breathe taking. The surrounding park is peaceful. Walk over a bridge to the island can picnic or swim or just hang out.

Staying on the bay side of the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel offers unobstructed views of Coconut Island. The mood of the island changes with direct sun or cloud formations offering wonderful photo opportunities.

Nice place to visit if it's sunny. This small island is right next to another park, which is also quite nice for a short walk. There are good views of the ocean and you can eat at one of several picnic benches available here or the park next door. I recommend picking up your lunch at Liko Lehua Cafe before... More

Before I went, I had the impression that it was much larger than it actually was. So unless you're planning a very mellow picnic or a nap, don't plan to spend more than 15 minutes. But it has great views of Hilo, so it's worth a stop if you're in one of the nearby hotels.

It was raining heavily during our visit so although it's a lovely island, we didn't spend long but it would be a super place for a picnic.

A lovely island, not very big. I enjoyed the walk around the perimeter and keeping my eye out for any turtles what may have been lingering. There are picnic benches so is a good spot if you want to dine al fresco one day. I don't think you need any more than an hour here.

The fact this island was once part of the land, the city, and it was destroyed by a Tsunami. Devastation is obvious but it is amazing how life comes back through the trees, birds, etc.

Go enjoy a walk, listen to the families and children laughing and playing. Swim in it's healing waters, , jump off the tower, relax, sit back take it all in
