This is just a small park on the harbor in Hilo, but it is relaxing and clean. You can take a stroll through the Japanese Garden, or even swim in the harbor. I saw a family with children who were jumping off of the wall into the water. It look like fun.

This little island is a great place for a morning or afternoon walk, or for exercises as we watched some keen people do their boot camp workouts. The park including the toilet block is kept clean. Terrific location for photos of Hilo downtown and Hilo Bay. The cruise liners can be easily sen from here also. A must see spot... More

While you're in Hilo walking around Queen Liliuokalani's Gardens, swing by Coconut Island. The island itself has a long and interesting history and has been used in a number of different ways over the years. Now, it's mostly a spot for locals and tourists to take in the beauty of Hilo Bay. Walk around the island, look at the old... More

This is a pretty little island park with picnic tables and an inviting swimming area. There is a pedestrian bridge to get there and it was great fun jumping off the (I believe old ferry dock) into the bay with the locals. My husband happened to see them jumping off on a TV show he never watches (Duck Dynasty) as... More

This is a good place to enjoy a picnic along the banks of the water. Across the water is the landscape of Hilo. Wonderful breeze coming off the water. Relaxation at its best!

We have been taking strolls here after meals to walk off the great foods everywhere! It is a peaceful liþtle park, handicap friendly.. Sit and watch the big ships coming in to port or leaving... people fishing at all hours! ..read a book on the grass..take a nap.. many weddings are held here!

It's a little island that is just off the coast. Locals use it for picnics and parties. Also, they like to jump off a couple of tall concrete piers into the water. It's fun to watch from the lanai. Pretty busy weekends, but not like it's totally crowded. Has a small beach, but Hilo isn't known for its sun...

We went to Coconut Island by accident - we were looking for a beach and came upon it. As we were walking over the bridge we spotted a sea turtle and three big stingrays. SO COOL! Coconut Island is beautiful - and it's fun to watch people jump off the big rock platform into the water, but for our family... More
