We made a quick stop here on our way thru Hilo to Volcano. The falls are lovely. The small trail beside it and the huge banyan tree are nice. We saw no rainbow, even tho we went first thing in the morning and it was sunny out. Nice for a quick stop, but I think I'd go next time i'd... More

Very touristy and the falls weren’t that spectacular. I recommend heading to Akaka Falls instead if you have the time.

A great opportunity for budding photographers! a beautiful natural spot and a must see if in Hawaii. We got here via the hop on hop off bus, it waited whilst we took photos and looked around. One of natures finest.

We must have timed our stop with a few bus tours because it was packed. We loved seeing the rainbows coming off the falls. People were swimming in the water, seemed very dangerous to us. The trees were a sight to see, we were impressed with them as well.

We made a short stop here to visit the falls--we missed any rainbows but it is a very pretty setting. The hike up the hill gives another vantage point and a view of the river as well as a gigantic banyan tree--really cool! We did not venture into the river but there were people out there.

This waterfall is beautiful. There is also hiking trail and gorgeous ginomous Tree. From the tree, you can walk to the river before the waterfall. It is a great little stop.

Probably the easiest access to a waterfall in the state. Located in Hilo, near the Hilo Hospital is Rainbow Falls. You pull up into a parking stall, walk about 30 yards, and there it is. Nice scenery, perfect photo ops, and they are also in the process of upgrading the parking lot, so that will improve too. Takes all of... More

These falls are easily accessed for anyone, which is nice. The falls are pretty, and make for good pictures of family sitting on the lava rock wall.

These falls are simply not representative of Hawaiian falls. If you live anywhere except maybe the desert, you'll have a waterfall that is this big.

This waterfall is not a huge fall but when you catch the sun at the right angels it can be breathtaking. During heavy rain it can be a muddy mess..so check with a reliable local source before going. Akaka Falls a bit further from Hilo but always lovely!
