This is an attraction you can view before you get on the plane. It's that close to downtown Hilo and the airport. You might save it until your last few precious moments on the Big island. Very tropical - like being in a set from "Tarzan". Parking is good, but it's an intimate space, so plan to pack it in... More

The views and trails are wonderful. The parking lot and trails are very well laid out so you can really enjoy and relax. A great place to visit.

This is a staple for all that go to Hawaii and want to see a waterfall up close. It may not be the biggest but is good size and you can climb up a path and see where the water comes from on top through the rocks etc. Nice for all ages.and relatively easy to get to.

Lovely falls in the middle of Hilo. Apparently there is a lot more water flowing at other times. Still lovely

Good stop, it made for some good pictures. Be sure to take in all three of the falls on this road up the mountain side.

I love this little slice of paradise. It is located in Hilo town, and is very peaceful. Tourist buses drop off frequently, but not a big deal. Stop by anytime and you may just see a rainbow over the falls. There are a few places to buy coffee, and other refreshments nearby. Bring your camera, and be sure to lock... More

This was a pretty waterfall but it just didn't rate up there as spectacular. However, if you walk off to the side of the park, there is a huge banyan tree that's fascinating. That alone was worth the effort! Just a very short drive from downtown Hilo so definitely make the small effort to visit.

I would recommend Rainbow falls if you haven't seen many waterfalls in your stay in Hawaii. It is a decent sized waterfall, with a unique twist. You can walk out onto the waterfall and even go to the edge of the waterfall. It is a very cool experience. I would definitely recommend doing this if you feel adventurous enough.

Rainbow Falls was running beautifully. It was a double falls and yesterday you could actually see rainbows in its spray - was also in our picture of ourselves.
