Also has an optical illusion! Chapo of Big C island tours was so knowledgeable about all the trees and plants.

We visited with Discovery tours and took a number of pictures capturing the rainbows. We had an young adventurous couple with us from Arkansas and we got picture of them on the rocks above the falls. You have to be young and surefooted to pull that off. Aloha my friends.

We were surprised as how close this was to downtown Hilo. Just a few short minutes drive up a canyon. Well worth the trip. The day we visited it was raining, so we did not see the rainbow.

You have to time it just right in the morning (if there is sun) to catch sight of the rainbow. Take the trail up the side into the Banyan forest and get a view of the trees. You can also walk off the trail to the head of the waterfall, just dont get too close and fall over the edge!

Rainbow Falls was very pretty. You can view the falls from the opposite side. We spent about 20 minutes during our tour. A beautiful sight to see when visiting Hilo.

Compared to Akaka Falls, these are babies but very pretty. Wheelchair accessible to the viewpoint. Short walk to the top.

So easy to get to--right off the main road running near the hospital. It's an easy walk from the parking lot and so simple to get to and get back.

This falls was very close to the parking lot, and easy to get to the view point, but it seemed as though some of the area had been closed or maybe I didn't see the trail that went closer. If short on time you can skip this.

Went to visit the falls. Follow the signs to the hospital. Clearly marked and easy to see. Lovely falls. You can walk to the lookout which is more harder. Like all park areas in Hawaii there are bathroom facilities.mif at the lookout watch out for tree roots which make walking hard for those with balance or walking problems. Lovely view.
