The Rainbow Falls was a beautiful waterfall, but there is not much to do around it. You can do a short hike (like 5-10 minutes) to the top of the waterfall to get some pictures but the best view is when you first approach the falls. I think we stayed about 15 minutes and I felt like I got to... More

With lovely locals, nearby refreshments and the sheer beauty of the state park, you can't go wrong. A must see while here.

The falls are beautiful but the lookout is terrible. Firstly they have installed a metal rail keeping you 6ft from the edge of the lookout (probably because some stupid tourist stepped off the cliff trying to get a picture) but that makes it incredibly difficult to even see the falls. My wife (at 5'2") couldn't see it. I could see... More

Pretty, easy to see and easy to get to. There is a really cool tree at the top of the stairs, but if you cannot climb stairs you can see if from the road around the corner.

Yes, you quickly find out how Rainbow Falls got it's name-there really IS a rainbow. Nice photo op :) Not much to do there except see the beautiful water fall. There is a restroom at the location.

The falls are very easy to get to, plenty of parking and facilities. Rainbow falls are pretty. If you are feeling adventurous walk through the Forrest and climb over the rocks to the top of the falls. Great for a quick stop off or as we did, something to do whilst waiting to check into your hotel!

The official lookout is to the right and straight from parking lot. Go left into magical woods with giant trees. Restrooms off parking area.

We stopped at Rainbow Falls while exploring Hilo. We noticed people standing at the lookout, but opted to take a set of stairs on the left side of the falls. Once we reached the top of a very short climb, we were greeted by beautiful trees and decided to go exploring through them. There were some local guys walking through... More

If you are close, really close, stop and take a look, otherwise don't feel like you missed something cause you didn't. Also, the buses stop here probably because of the restroom facilities.
