Seeing this advertised in various brochures we expected a lot more. Having said that there was a nice walk, "Rainforest Walk" with various plants labeled. A drive to a waterfall that was nice and then the botanical gardens themselves. The garden was large w/ many different plants all labeled. We were underwhelmed w/ the maze. We were unable to do... We rode sedways through the World Botanical Gardens at highway marker 16 on Hwy 19 going north from Hilo....It is two hours and we went through gardents with 2,000 species of flowers, trees, fruit, etc. We also went through a rain forest and up to the top. Our guide, Arlenn was wonderful...a young man that knew the history and very... More

We stopped by to explore the botanical gardens to see, learn about enjoy the various plants that grow on the Big Island. The grounds aren't in the best shape as it appeared that what was once a manacured pathway with signage to identify the various plants now grown over and unkept. We had the place to ourselves as nobody else... More

The gardens were very beautiful with extensive variety of plants. It was really fun trying to find our way out of the maze. It was part of our Groupon pass for zip lining and the Segway.

Maybe it was the time of year, January, but this was a huge disappointment. Grounds were poorly maintained and very few plants in bloom making it way overpriced. Better maze and garden at Dole Plantation. Portable toilets were messy. You can see much better examples of streams, falls and foliage by taking advantage of free island trails.

It was a great experience! The garden is lovely - orchids, flowers and exotic strange looking plants, trees, flowers. They even let you taste fruit picked right from the trees! And everyone one was so friendly!

We were given free passes so on the day of waiting for our flight out we spent some time walking the garden and taking pictures. It is beautiful to see the many different plants and flowers, waterfalls. The maze was the highlight for our teens. Despite the drizzling rain, one can shelter under trees and the rain is warm so... I saw many plants that were different than I am used to. Who knew there is an albino palm. The tour guide gave us much info on all we saw.

Umauma were the falls we were actually trying to go to. Signs are deceiving. We thought that was part of the entrance fee as this one came first and we had no idea that there was another registration just up the road. Still we had fun. We giggled in the maze. The drive up to the falls that are included... More

These gardens were our first attraction that we visited on the Hilo side, and it was a memorable experience. The clerk at our hotel gave us two free admission tickets, but it is certainly worth the entry fee ( good for one week of visits!) The bountiful variety and color of plants is amazing. We had a casual stroll along... More
