If I were to recommend one route of several possible to Jackson, Wy, when traveling from the east, this would be it. Sights wise, maybe parts of the route out of Casper is better, but driver safety wise it is a great road and very scenic and becomes more so, the closer you get to Jackson. The road has pretty... This is a very scenic highway from Pinedale to Jackson. There are plenty of beautiful pines and mountain views winding through the Bridger-Teton Nat'l. Forest and following the Hoback River.

We traveled from US 89 south on US 189 before taking US 191 heading to Pinedale. The route to Pinedale was absolutely beautiful. From Pinedale to Rock Springs it is fairly bleak except the area around Farson. The road south of Pinedale does give you a good idea though of what the pioneers had to walk through on their way... It had gorgeous mountain sights, trees, beautiful rivers running all along the road, my husband and I both loved the drive from Pinedale to Jackson, Wyoming, we had never seen rivers that just run from town to town and it was a gorgeous drive!

Fabulous opportunities for photography and wildlife viewing. Watch out for tractor trailers zipping up and down the road and crawling up your butt. Lots of pullouts to stop and shoot pix.

This was a very nice drive, not a lot of traffic road was maintained. Scenery got boring after a while.

This was a beautiful drive heading north toward Jackson. The mountains were excellent backdrops for the green hills and winding road - yet I was able to maintain speed as the turns were never quite that tight. A gorgeous drive.

From SLC, we took 189 up to Pinedale and 191 back through Rock Springs. From the other reviews posted, I had expected Teton-like mountains filled with pine trees. The reality is gently rolling hills of sagebrush highlighted by the occasional cow, horse, or pronghorn. There are mountains...in the far, far distance. The speed limit is absurdly low for this highway:... More

US 191 from Rock Springs to Hoback Jct is a beautiful drive. You can continue to Jackson from here or head west. It is posted at 65 MPH with some towns to slow down in. The scenery is awesome and you should afford yourself time to pull off and take pictures. . . It is a well traveled road with... More

Much of this was in the dark, but the majority that wasn't was scenic and you could go the 65mph speed limit pretty easily. I was surprised about both.
