It was a very good experience overall. I wish there was more there, but they are slowly restoring everything. Most of the buildings were changed, destroyed, etc. They are slowly unearthing new discoveries and are building very accurate replicas. It is a fairly small attraction, however we spent just about 2.5 hours there. We could've stayed longer, however we were... More

The Territorial Prison was an add-on to our western road trip and we are so glad we stopped! The museum is very well planned out and the new Butch Cassidy exhibit that is beyond belief! Check it out and get lost in time...plan on walking to the outside buildings, too. See how the brooms were made by the inmates and... More

While staying in Craig, Colorado, on our way to Devil's Tower, we visited with two gentlemen riding motorcycles. They highly recommended taking the tour of the Wyoming Territorial prison in Rawlins, Wyoming. We were going that way, so decided to check it out. The tour is given by college age men and women. My brother and I had our own... More

Our tour guide for this fascinating and unique site was exceptionally well informed and shared her knowledge with wonderful stories. In fact, it's the stories that make this place so interesting. It's not all that large, it's wonderfully restored, and the stories make it all come to life. They've have large photographic portraits on the walls of the prison of... More

Our group of 13 adults really enjoyed this historic site. I found the brochure with details helpful. Mostly, we just wandered around for 90 minutes and soaked up the information about a different place and time. I especially liked the profiles about the criminals who had stayed at the prison. The few women prisoners also had interesting profiles.. The guides... More

This was a very interesting and engaging historical site to explore! Had kids ranging from 11 down to 1 and all found neat things to look at and learn about! The old town and homestead were fun to explore and all had period furniture, toys, items to look at. Older kids enjoyed learning about their inmates they were assigned from... More

This place has it all. A historic site where we can walk at our leisure or take a guided tour, lock ourselves in a cell, watch brooms being made, stroll down the nature trail and see a 1920s church and log school house. The new Butch Cassidy exhibit is really well done. Don't miss it as you drive to yellowstone.

This is a great way to spend a couple of hours and they have just open a section on Butch Cassidy, who spent 1.5 years here. The prison and the grounds have been mostly restored and you can see how prison life was in the late 1800's. They even had women prisoners here! We spent around 1.5 hours and my... More

They have done an outstanding job of both depiction of what it was like to be a prisoner and what the prison must have looked like. Multiple prisoner biographies give details of their offenses, their time behind bars and their history after prison. I suspect the quality rehab job of the prison facilities is not how it actually looked for... More

We stopped by to look at this as a possible wedding venue. Though they were closed at the time, the staff cheerfully dropped what they were doing to accommodate us. They were thoroughly knowledgeable and very helpful with possible wedding planning. This is a great place to visit with kids as there is plenty of space for them to run... More
