Please don't misunderstand, the valley of Jackson Hole is the real west, too, in terms of landscape, nature, and preserved undeveloped viewshed. But a horseback ride somewhat closer to the Tetons is going to be of necessity a bit more commercial-feeling and more populated. Here, you ride into much less famous but no less beautiful terrain with a wrangler or... More

Having been on several winter holiday sleigh rides, my wife and I signed up for the Mill Iron Ranch ride and steak dinner while visiting Jackson Hole over the Christmas holiday. The ranch is small (by western standards) and adjacent to an elk refuge that was closed off to public access while we were there so the ride was confined... More

We took our family of four on the two hour trail ride. It was great fun for novice riders and Justin was a great guide. My disappointment was with the booking process. Originally I wanted to book the two hour trail ride with dinner. Since I have young kids, I asked if we could have the pasta option for them... More

Thank you for taking visiting the mill iron ranch. Sorry that you had a sub par experience. I first hand know that NO comment about teaching your kids to eat steak was ever made. Nor anything about your parenting skills. If you think you heard anything to that effect we apologize. We are very well known steakhouse and are sorry... More

During our first visit to Jackson with some family friends in late December, we scheduled a sleigh ride and dinner with the concierge service. One of our friends had never experienced an activity such as this, and we strongly encouraged participating since we had been on two others in different states and had excellent experiences each time. The concierge advised... More

Dear Joe, To begin with we would like to sincerely apologize that your experience was less than superb. We are a family owned and operated ranch that despite what you claim of we don't work hard at what we do and that we don't put forth the effort to make sure your experience was wonderful, we put in incredibly long... Came here 9 years ago and have finally got back to town to try sgain. It is great. The sleigh ride around the property is informative and you can see wildlife. We saw Elk right off the property. Afterwards you are treated to a steak dinner. Absolutely incredible. Best steak I've ever had. They had a live band and there... More

I've been on my share of trail rides, well over a dozen, and nothing compares to the Mill Iron Ranch experience. The horses are skilled, calm, and surefooted. The guides are knowledgeable and focused on your safety and enjoyment. The ride is up hill or down hill the entire way. The scenery is spectacular. We went in early July and... More

Our hotel booked a trail ride for our family this summer at the Mill Iron Ranch. We were a bit nervous as we were not experienced riders. (My husband had never been on a horse, and I had not ridden since I was a child. The staff eased our fears with the utmost professionalism. The guide was with us throughout... More

6th generation Jackson Hole Family runs this ranch. As you can imagine, very knowledgable about everything Jackson. Fascinating history, beautiful, gentle horses, breath-taking scenery - great activity for the family!

What a great family owned organization! We had such a great time riding a horse to the top of the mountain. The guide was so knowledgeable and friendly, as well as the rest of the staff. Everyone was so helpful and kind. My family and I had a great time and would do it again!
