My wife and I just completed our annual winter vacation to JH. Upon arriving I wanted to find a peaceful, scenic place to take a hike through the snow covered landscape. The Cache Creek trail was just what I was looking for. It was perfectly groomed for CC skiing, hiking, snow biking or jogging. I started my hike at 9:00... More

This is located right at the southeast corner of Jackson, easy to find with plenty of parking. I went to XC ski and enjoyed a gentle climb along the wide groomed trail, and the fun of the gentle slope back down. Beside XC skiers, there were mountain bikers, runners, and hikers, some with their dogs. The scenery is wonderful, and... More

Cache to Game is the locals favorite! Shuttle a car if you do not wish to ride or run by the highway. Dog restrictions during the Winter...Summer and Fall are the best times.

This was my second day in town hike. Clear skies, birds & wildflowers everywhere. Crack of dawn, enjoying myself, I see a sign that says "be bear aware" and then I remembered its Grizzly habitat. 5 minutes later I hear a big crashing sound and my heart fell. Turned around its a kid on a mountain bike. All good after... More

If you want some fresh air, this hike is a beautiful one. It's especially nice when we visited in September. The smoke from a surrounding fire made it a little less so, but we can just imagine how great it is on a clearer day!

Second "warm-weather" trip to JH, and decided to try some "real" mountain biking, i.e. rented bikes at Hoback Sports, and headed to the Cache Creek Trail head on the south-east end of town. A friend had told us this would be a good place to start, as the main trail is fairly wide most of the way, not too steep,... More

There is nothing more classic about the mountain bike ride known as Cache to Game. If you don't have a mountain bike, rent one at several shops and arrange to do this trip.

I have never hiked this whole loop--but I've done the two ends of the trail. Putt-Putt (Cache Creek end) is a favorite local "in-town" trail. The Gros Ventre Wilderness abuts the town of Jackson and this trail is within that designated wilderness area. Unfortunately, the trail is close enough to town that it is heavily used by hikers, dog walkers... More
