This was an interesting place to visit. I learned a lot of the history of the Dells area and about early photography.

This is the place to be if your looking for something to do for a hour or 2, wonderful and beautiful history of the place that really starts our childhood vacation memories. Back to a time when waterparks and t-shirt shops where not the to do things. Although the gift shop is in the front there is a REASON BEHIND... More

Very well done museum. If you like 19th century photography this is a good place to stop. They do propagate a couple common misconceptions about photography in the 1800s, though. Overall a good experience.

When you walk in you expect to see the museum right away, but instead you walk right into the gift shop and the only way to see the museum is to pay $7 per adult. I decided not to spend my money that day so I can't give my thoughts on the museum part, but there is a few things... More

Found this hidden gem walking in downtown Dells! In the back of a store there's a museum about photography and H.H. Bennett the famous photographer. Allen in the store did a great job explaining the picture of the man and dog jumping to the rock we saw on the boat tour. A must for any history buff!

We were exciting to visit the attraction. We entered the building and it was an H. H. Bennett gift shop. There was one employee behind the counter...reading a book. He did not look up or acknowledge us. We thoughtfully looked around and saw doors to the exhibit...we walked up the the counter and inquired about admission to the museum...and the... More

Don't be deterred by the small space. We lost ourselves among the exquisitely detailed photos and to-the-point summaries . And the museum is more than photos; Bennett's studio and store stand unchanged as they were in the 1800's. Fascinating and fun!

We enjoyed spending time learning about the photographer and his trade. There were several interactive areas and we liked the ships wheel with all the pictures!

Very nice place to visit if you are interested in the nature aspect of The Wisconsin Dells. He is credited with putting W.D. on the map. It's full of old photos and history of Mr. Bennett. You can also purchase items.

Great stop for anyone who appreciates the history of the Dells and/or is a photography buff. FYI.Also, this is part of the Wisconsin Historical Society passport, so members get discounted entry.
