Great exhibits, very interesting. Danielle, the historian in charge, rocked. She was not only able and willing to answer questions, but also provided me with the location of several local kitsch and oddities that had me getting out my camera to check out.

This studio, part of the Wisconsin Historical Society, is a wonderful example of the efforts and ingenuity of early photographers. The equipment that H.H. Bennett used is very interesting. Seeing the size of the equipment that he managed to haul to places, even in boats, makes the photography even more impressive. The stereopticon pictures are fun to see, even if... More

Being in the age of instant technology, it's fascinating how the photography history has really developed in the beginning to what it is now. We stopped here to kill some time between Dell cruises, but it required more time in my opinion. You get right up and personal with the history by even going into the very same studio Bennett... This place is my husband's favorite attraction in the Dells because of the rich history element, but the nice staff/kid-friendly tour. The last time we went there, one of the staff members gave our daughter a little flag (which made her day) that said "Wisconsin History" on it (something like that). She loved looking at all the old pictures of... More

The photos of Wisconsin Dells in the 1800s are so good--and the Reese Gallery upstairs is also great to see, showing what life was like in the Dells in the 1950s and 1960s. There is lots of fascinating Ho-Chunk history and artifacts on display, too. They have a new screen that one can see three dimensions in the old H.H.... More

This was my favorite place that we visited while in the Dells. The place is not very big but it packs a lot of history and great photos in a small area. His photography, inventions, etc. are from the mid to late 1800's. Bennett is known as the "man who made Wisconsin Dells famous." One visit to his museum and you'll... More

you will likely miss it the 1st time you drive by. Its right on the strip in downtown dells.. plan to spend an hour looking at the all the old pictures and interactive exhibit. If you like that kind of thing you could easily spend several hours there.

Nice museum. Pictures and info about how the dells became popular. They also went into detail about the first stereo vision.

People tend to forget that the dells wasn't always a tourist destination. This museum is a good reminder of the history of this beautiful area.

What a great place to learn about the history of the Wisconsin Dells. H. H. Bennett truly loved this area and it shows through the photographs he took. Also, learning about his photography processes and his passion for photography comes through in this interactive studio.
