After the hot but pleasant drive through lovely Door County, we boarded an uncrowded ferry and soared into Lake Michigan for a little R&R. Our 12-year-old sons loved the ride, and we love everything about charming little Washington Island. Never overrun with tourists, and always just enough to keep us entertained but not overwhelmed. I have been back and forth to Washington Island multiple times. The pilots are terrific - some days the lake can be pretty darn rough, but I've never felt unsafe.
