This museum is on the edge of downtown. I have driven by dozens of times and finally decided to stroll on over after visiting the farmer's market across the road (another great event, but that's a separate review). It looks deceptively small from the outside but inside there's lots to see. A great taxidermy display greets you. As others have... More

This place is bigger than it looks. There are a lot of antiques that show the history of sturgeon bay and the people that lived there. And in the garage you can see a couple old fire trucks. It's FREE

Very well done and if we had time we could have spent hours. We hope to go back someday and visit it again. Kids might not appreciate so best if you leave them at home.

Not a bad way to spend maybe 2 hours on a rainy day. They have old stuff relating to the area, some fire trucks and an old jail cell. The taxidermy display is very nice and they tell me it is growing. Nothing real stupendous, but they don't charge admission, just a donation box.

This is a wonderful museum with something of interest for everyone. There is free 2 hour street parking outside, but this may not be enough time for you, particularly if you take in some of the four 15 minute history videos. The diorama is first class, and coupled with the video gave me a new appreciation of taxidermy. The museum... More

We found this museum clean, well layed out, extremely interesting and much larger than it appears from outside. Friendly and helpful people. So glad we decided to stop. Well worth your time. One of the best museums we've seen in very long time.

I liked that things seemed to be put together with care. A lot of this handwritten neatly on signs, which I thought was cool to see! I liked seeing the fire trucks and jail cell. Will come back and visit again.

We've visited twice and just love it, especially the natural history part. The taxidermy work and the murals are beautiful. We also enjoy learning the history of the island. We plan on coming back for a visit whenever we're in the area. And it's free!!

A lot of neat things to see. Is bigger than it appears from the outside. There are some hands on areas and plenty of things to take pictures of.

This is not a large museum, but we found it to be a nice county museum with good variety. It is worth checking out while in Door County.
