Like many others, we have attended APT for many years. We have a group of friends who have made attending at least 2 shows a year a tradition. When our kids were younger, we camped at a nearby state park and attended a matinee. It was a great way to introduce them to Shakespeare. Then the "adults" would also come... More

Two shows on this evening. You pick one. Arrive with your own good or order a day ahead for a light but tasty dinner on their wooded picnic benches. What an excellent way to spend your evening in Spring Green.

We are not serious theater buffs/patrons, yet we have been attending APT for nearly 30 years. The atmosphere is truly an escape from the everyday world. Originally found this gem while I was a young English Lit grad student (out of state). I was drawn to the Shakespeare plays, and my husband agreed when we combined it with a weekend... More

We've been seeing plays at APT for 20+ years and have NEVER been disappointed. The quality of acting, set design, lighting, etc. is all at the highest level. Whether you see a play in their outdoor "up-the-hill" theater, or see one in the more intimate indoor "Touchstone" you will NOT be disappointed. They do a fantastic job at every level.

We just saw the Noel Coward play "Private Lives" on Friday evening, and were delighted by the performance. The lighting, music, sound, and stage were excellent, and the costumes were to die for! The performances by all of the actors were top-notch, certainly what one would expect from a Broadway play. As others have said, there is quite a walk... More

My husband and I took the day off and drove to Spring Green to see James DeVita perform An Iliad. We had read a review from the theater critic of the Wall Street Journal saying that An Iliad was remarkable and that DeVita is one of the finest classical actors in the country. He is right. DeVita captivated an audience... More

I've spent many a pleasant afternoon or evening watching plays at American Players Theatre. Having expanded beyond Shakespeare for many years, they offer a variety of interesting plays during the course of their summer season. With the relatively new Touchstone Theatre, they now offer plays more suitable for an indoor setting or for a more specialized audience. The main stage... More

Spring Green is a very small town (about an hour west of Madison), but American Players is one of the country's elite classical theater companies. Shakespeare and especially Shakespeare comedies are the main event for the big outdoor theater. Nothing like seeing a Midsummer Night's Dream under a starry summer sky! (Or The Tempest with a thunderstorm threatening.) But lately... More

Saw Seascape which we both enjoyed. It made us laugh and think. The actors were all fabulous! APT will be added to the yearly trip.

After a picnic lunch at one of the many tables provided, we recently attended a performance of "The Merry Wives of Windsor" at the outdoor theatre. The setting is pretty, the acoustics are good, and the performances were outstanding!
