After a picnic lunch at one of the many tables provided, we recently attended a performance of "The Merry Wives of Windsor" at the outdoor theatre. The setting is pretty, the acoustics are good, and the performances were outstanding!

My adult daughter and I have started making going to APT an annual tradition. We saw Pride and Prejudice this year. Very talented acting staff. It's a 2-hour drive one way for us but it is so worth it. When you watch a play here, you are transported to another time and the rest of the world ceases to exist.

It is always such a treat to visit APT. We were fortunate to enjoy performances of "Merry Wives of Windsor" and "Private Lives" this summer. We also enjoyed a behind the scenes tour and were able to see the costume shop, wig shop, set building facility, dressing rooms, and backstage. It was fun to hear an actor's (our guide) take... I have been to APT several times and love it! This amazing theatre company offers some of the best Shakespeare productions in the Midwest, always has high quality costumes and sets and hosts a company of professional actors that play the Chicago and Milwaukee circuits in the winter season. Larger shows are offered in the outdoor theater on the hillside... More

APT's presentation of "Private Lives" was our first exposure to this beautiful outdoor theater. What a delight! Enjoyed a picnic dinner on the grounds first, and what a setting! Dozens and dozens of picnic tables provided, along with grills and the coolest amenity: you can order various box picnic meals ahead of time and just pick them up and enjoy!... More

Another wonderful evening at APT. It was hard to pick only 1 play for this visit, so many outstanding plays to chose from. We ordered the chicken/ goat cheese salad and beef/ Havarati sandwich the day before and used the picnic area to enjoy the delicious food before the play. There are enough picnic tables for all who wish to... More

This is the fourth year in a row my husband and I have come to the APT to see performances. They are always absolutely incredible. The theater is so unique and the acting is out of this world. We have always come for the Shakespeare but would like to see other shows in the future. I look forward to coming... More

We first went to see a play at American Players Theater in 1981. These days we make at least one trip from the Twin Cities every summer. This year it's three trips. Since they added the Touchstone stage there are so many more things they can do and so many more plays each season. Each trip we will take in... More

Last night we went out to APT to see "The Island". It was played at an inside intimate theatre that could only seat 200 people. Only a few seats were left vacant. The cast was professional and the set was simple but well designed. We enjoyed a picnic on the grounds at one of the picnic tables. While we were... More

We love attending the plays at APT. We make it a habit to attend as many shows as possible through the summer. Every time we leave commenting about the hight quality of actors and performances at APT. It is not just the show but the experience including dinner before the show to the potential post show discussion with the actors.... More
