I was a middle-schooler the last time I was at The House On The Rock, in Spring Green, WI, which was many decades ago. I remembered it vividly as we drove past the huge strawberry pots, each festooned with dragons and gargoyles, lining the entrance drive into the gift shop entry point. The gift shop/entrance was much different than the... More

I know now why previous visitors have a difficult time explaining this experience. This is a great place to take children and a good adult trip. Be prepared to walk a lot. This really is a beautiful part of Wisconsin. We have lived within 200 miles all of our lives and jus now made this destination trip. Add it to... More

Better than Roadside America but with the same lack of self awareness and about 5 hours longer. Maybe it was the unseasonable 70 degree October weather when we were there but it was totally empty and not musty or dirty at all. Sometimes it was hard to tell if things were up for the Halloween display or if they were... More

The walk through gardens and house in beginning were beautiful. You can purchase three separate self guided tours. We decided the first two sections would be enough. Half way through we found the house to be haunting with dark rooms and pathways, funky smells, showcases of creepy antique dolls and large collections of old toys and junk. At the very... More

This is the most fascinating place to visit. It not only has the house that is made out of rock it has a museum that is the greatest well worth the admission fee. I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful this place is. Plan to spend the whole day as you will have trouble getting through it.

My girlfriend and I added House on the Rock to a weekend getaway. What a disappointment. It is huge - definitely, but so incredibly odd it's just weird. Furthermore, it is dusty, dirty and generally just a run down place.

This is a must see if traveling to Wisconsin. It is set in a beautiful area. The exhibits are unique and interesting. There is something here to please every taste. Although the exhibits are on the odd side of the spectrum still a fantastic place to see.

This must have been really something in its heyday, but the maintenance is slipping. Many exhibits seem worn and neglected. The giant carousel is definitely worth seeing, though. Expect 5-6 hours and a lot of stairs if you do all three parts of the tour.

I toured this place as a kid at least 3 times and was thrilled at the opportunity to go again as an adult. Aside from a few changes about how to tour the different sections, it was pretty much the same as it has always been. They tell you to expect to spend about 3.5 hours. We spent about 2.5.... More

Interesting place t visit full of unusual things. Unparalleled views from the Infinity Room. This entire attraction could use a good dusting. It felt dirty and weird. Take the time to read everything in the attraction foyer before you enter the actual house otherwise, you won't understand what it is all about. Allow plenty of time...at least 2-3 hours to... More
