Living in the area we have gone to House On the Rock a number of times over the years. In the beginning it was well worth seeing, a very unique and genuine retreat residence. Through the years it has been added to extensively and the house has mostly become a side story to the rest of the attraction. It is... More

We were driving from Iowa to Madison WI and House on the Rock is about 20 minutes off the highway. It cost $45 for an adult and one child and we did all 3 sections. They say 1 hour each section but we did it in a little over 2 hours total and I felt that we really spent a... More

We have a house in the area and the house on the rock was just one of those things you had to visit if you live there. So we went one day. It was a horrible experience. The first section was the house, it had dirty shag carpeting the whole way through and it was really cramped and smelly. When... More

Very interesting. Some historical items where you can actually gain knowledge, but mostly just ridiculous and annoying. The first room you walk in doesn't smell good. The rest of the "museum", including the actual house just seems dirty. I am not sure how they could keep it clean because it would take about 1,000 people to dust everything. I gave... More

We've been to House on the Rock several times. Each time we notice new items and things that we missed on our previous visits. It is truly a unique place that is hard to describe. As other reviewers have said, there is a lot of walking. This trip thru took us 5 1/2 hours. There are 3 different sections and... More

This was my first visit as an adult. It is grand and there is a lot to look at, but there are drawbacks. There is A LOT of walking. They have benches throughout, but many of the walkways are on an incline, so wear appropriate shoes. They do not allow strollers, so if you have little ones, you will be... More

I don't know where to begin. This is one of the most unique places I've ever been. You will see beautifully decorated rooms full of antiques, massive collections of model ships, miniature circuses, dolls, antique coin operated orchestras, 80 foot sea monsters, and of course, the world's largest carousel...and that's just part of it. There are gun collections, sword collections... More

I was nervous about taking my two granddaughters, ages 6 and 10, after reading some of the reviews, but am so glad I did. They loved it. Never a dull moment... Some areas not as much fun, but most of it had them excited. The incredible mind and imagination of this man is mind boggling. Weird, cool, exciting, and omigosh... More

I cannot even describe it to you. You just have to go. It's got to be one of the modern wonders of the world. To go through the whole thing could take several days, so be prepared. I highly recommend this attraction as there is nothing like it!

On the house on the rock page it said Alex Jordan wanted people to "Question his creation, and turn his house of dreams into their own." I question his sanity. And dreams??? HAH! More like nightmare. After HOURS of being trapped in this creepy place with dust, spider webs and off-key music, porcelain dolls....etc. I thought i had about lost... More
