It seems like people either love or hate this place. You could add me to the hate list. The house tour was interesting - it reminded me a bit of the eccentric oddities in Graceland, but in a home that is not liveable and never lived in. The collections throughout were too large to appreciate. By the end I was... more

My family and I have been to the House on the Rock three times and we never get tired of it. We asked our 13 year old son where he wanted to go this year and he said the House on the Rock. One thing I do recommend is to take the tour in stages. For example: Go one day... more

We spent a day and a half here. Lots of different, neat stuff you won't see anywhere else. It was fun and fascinating for the kids... Really liked the automated music displays. more

My wife and I have been to the House on the Rock five times. Our first visit was in 1983 on a trip from Long Island, NY to California and back. At the time I was sixty years old, and never had any trouble getting around the place at any time. Between 1986 and 1998 we went four more times,... more

The house is cool but the whole place does smell pretty bad. The collections are okay but ppretty boring... more

A full 3 1/2 hours took us through this fascinating place. Talk about ecceletic. The rooms were dark making photo shots hard but buying the DVD helped. It is a lot of walking up and down and the narrow passageways would be a challenge for someone a little large. BUT well worth the visit. The collection rooms were just fascinating.... more

This is my 2nd time in 4 years visiting. I discovered things I had missed the first time around, plus they have added to the exhibits. There really are no words to describe this attraction. You will be surprised and amazed at all the various collections as well as the original home's architecture. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I... more

I saw the reviews and also the negative ones... I guess it is just a matter of appreciating things... the volume of collection (or junk to others) is so huge that that alone astounds me... it is a museum of a lot of things from breweries to dolls to a carousel with no single plain horse seat... and items from... more

The House on the Rock is a mish mash of fun and quirky history---Elementary school age children will find it cool and amusing, and adults will cringe and laugh and get a kick out of reminiscing through many of the collections. The house itself I found cramped and eerie, and I felt that a lot of it was not open... more
