The collections of guns, dolls, maritime history, musical instruments, machinery, cars, carriages, just to name a small portion is beyond compare. The house was build into a huge rock! Gotta see it.

The House on the Rock is overwhelming and amazing with the architecture of the house, plus everything he collected. They offer three different prices depending on how many rooms you want to see and displays. Longest tour is about 3 hours minimum. Younger children may not be able to keep their attention span focused on some of the displays, but... More

We went to House on the Rock assuming we'd find some parts amusing, then we'd be on our way. After 3.5 hours on the self-tour, we had to give up due to sensory overload! The property is full of curiosities, including the largest carousel we've ever seen, and not one animal on there was a horse. The gardens were beautiful.... More

The house has changed a bit in the intervening years - when I was a kid, you could see out the windows inside the house itself over the valley - - if you had a fear of heights, that could be disconcerting - also the live trees (which are highly impractical in the north country) that grew inside the house... We enjoyed the house, the grounds and the collections. Eclectic collector who definitely thought out of the box. Whether it's the magical merry go round or the grotto type rooms built around the rock, there's sure to be something for all ages here. Great side trip for multi-generational traveling families.

We were visiting Wisconsin Dells and thought we would visit the House on the Rock, which was about an hour drive to get to. We had a 6 year old and 3 year old along with us, and they stayed pretty entertained throughout, but I think were happy when we were done. We could only do the first two sections... More

Having gone through this around 10 years ago, I wanted to see what updates had been added. I really enjoyed the newest addition about Alex Jordan and the history of the house. Being in the maintenance and engineering field, I've always found this place interesting in how the automatic music machines work! Yes, there is a lot of "junk" here,... More

The location and grounds of the house on the rock are beautiful and the excitement builds as you enter the property, to see what one expects to be a beautiful work of modern architecture. However, beyond the first room that explains the man's background and life the disappointing state of decay, dirt, dust, smell of rodents, hot and stale assault... More

I had no clue what would be awaiting me here. My wife and I opted for the 'ultimate' package to see all three zones. It was worth every cent! We spent four hours here and we could have spent more! The infinity room will blow your mind, and some of the objects you'll run into are simply amazing. I felt... More

I have been here many times over the years and there is more and more to see each time. The house itself is such a small part of all there is to see. Plan on spending over half of your day. But be warned, there is a lot of walking and climbing stairs and it is not cheap. Although it... More
