A very fragile and beautiful environment in which you might view cranes, deer, songbirds, 13 striped ground squirrels that are fat and cute. This is a very special spot and well worth the journey from wherever but you'd better be prepared to move fast and not stop while hiking in order to avoid having all the blood sucked out of your... We arent totally out of towners, but wanted something to do on a day off. We wanted to take our dogs as well. It was so much fun, made us feel one with nature and like we were exploring uncharted territory. Lake Michigan was a little cool but the dogs didn't mind. They are allowed on the north beach I... Our friends' large RV was accomodated nicely at spot #86 at Kohler Terry-Andrae State Park campground. We two couples appreciated the cleanliness of this park and its proximity to beautiful Lake Michigan. While there for 4 days we hiked the 2.0 mile corded trail which wound among the grassy sand dunes along the lake. Wildlife spotted included racoon, turkey, deer,... More

My best buddies and I would bike to what used to be known as Terry Andrae park.. fifty years ago..and having visited the park last year , I am so pleased to see it is still as untouched as any beach park could be these days. Still on a weekday in summer you could find yourself among the only people... More

Great beaches, pristine dunes, camping and wildlife. See deer up close. Sandhill cranes. We bicycle to Kohler-Andre in the summer for a great non-denominational church service on Sundays.

Here is a wooded shoreline with high sand dunes. The dunes have a long boardwalk from which one can survey the long shore--and which help preserve the fragile dunes, which unfortunately not everyone has respected, resulting in the collapse of a couple of benches which used to overlook the water. Another boardwalk goes out into the marsh area adjoining the... More

We camped/explored here for 3 days/2 nights the last weekend of September. We had reserved a campsite ahead of time, since I knew this was a popular destination (had camped here for years as a child). While the campground was nearly full, there were a few sites that remained available the whole time we were there, so it looks like... More

Granted - we visited in September but the beach was long and empty. Took a few of the walking tours which was easy to follow - but wear good shoes and wouldn't recommend for someone who isn't sure-footed.

My husband and I really enjoyed the beach and dune "cordwalk." We have been to the park several times and each time we are pleasantly surprised with the whole experience. Our last trip was in January winter camping right near the beach. We got our choice of sites and the park was quiet except a couple RV's but it was... More
