This is a small zoo with a nice mixture of animals but I really think the animal quarters should be cleaned up a bit better. I thought most of the animals looked bored in their enclosures. The small children's zoo was fine for little one's for they could get much closer to the baby animals. I think they charge a... More

After reading mostly good reviews on this site I decided to take my kids to the Racine Zoo. I hate to say it, but in the words of my kids we left the place "feeling sad." This zoo may have been a wonderful place at one time for people to come and experience seeing wild animals and learn about them,... More

The zoo grounds are beautiful and there is a nice view Lake Michigan (which adds a nice cool breeze on summer days). The zoo is very caring and while it is much smaller than the Milwaukee Zoo, we love the Racine zoo such as much. They have wonderful presentations and feeding opportunities throughout the day. They have a new baby... More

This was our first visit to Racine Zoo and we had a great time. It is only a small zoo compared to Lincoln Park and Milwaukee but that makes for a very relaxing visit. Our 2 year old could wander around freely whilst there was enough to keep the 11 & 12 year olds occupied. Giraffe feeding and bird feeding... More

We used to go when the zoo was free for Racine residents. It wasn't great then. So when we came back to the area to visit and noticed they had done some work on the zoo and was now charging $8 per adult, and $6 per kid, I thought maybe it was better. The site CLAIMS (and I should add,... More

I have been to the Milwaukee County Zoo plenty of times, but I actually think the Racine zoo is much more hands-on and interesting! The giraffe feeding was great, and you actually get up close and feed the giraffes. Also the aviary cage was fascinating, the birds would just fly around and land on your arms and shoulders. The landscaping... More

Racine zoo remained a free zoo for decades and I have fond memories of ice skating on the frozen zoo pond playing red rover and crack the whip in the winter. Sadly they had to put up fences and charge fees - to protect the animals. It is a nice, easy inexpensive relax that you should enjoy if you are... More

Most of the animals were missing and the ones that were out and about looked rather unkempt. I am a little disappointed that there hasn't been any significant improvement since the admission fee was instituted.

We're glad you came to visit this Wednesday! Some of our animals, such as the West caucasian tur, are shedding their winter hair and may look a little messy this time of year! Unfortunately, there isn't much we can do to help the process! Since it was a nice day, most of our animals were out and about enjoying the... More

It is really nice that Racine keeps this up. It used to be free but now it costs $8 to get in, $7 for seniors, and $6 for kids. The grounds are nice but the animals are few by normal zoo standards. To me it seems the same as years ago when it was free. I think costs for keeping... More
