I toured the Villa with my friend who has traveled and toured historic spots in many countries. We both agreed that this was well worth the visit. It was delightful to tour this Victorian era mansion and hear that 90% of the furnishings are from the original owners. A big plus is seeing the large, black and white, historical photos... More

Part of usually excellent Wisconsin state historical system but this site seemed a little outdated and neglected. Seemed like there was much more story to be told than what we heard and saw. Teenage guide walked us through the house and recited what she had learned, but many points inside and outside seemed to be passed over. Somehow the story... More

The villa itself is very interesting and a great example of Victoriana, the surrounding park is also well worth a visit, with the mighty Mississipi running alongside. The Depot restaurant serves great bar food and many locals meet there and make for an interesting chat

what a glorious house this is. we had a private conducted tour no extra charge and loved every minute of it. The furnishings and general demeanour of the house is lovely, don't miss it if you are in the area.

As a part of the tour, a customer would tour the mansion with the tour guide and then can take the "self-guided" (walking) tour around the rest of the grounds. Compliments: Fantastic, fun, knowledgeable tour guide - Beautiful grounds - replicas AND restored items from the 1800s - interesting history Complaints: The tour is not for those who have problems... great little pond and fun for people with children to go and feed their domesticated ducks in the duck pond, great fun on the tour as well, definitely a must if you're into the history of smaller towns!

I wasn't as sure as my wife was to visit an old home but I went to see what this was all about. this is not to be missed while in town. A fully restore mansion from the 1800's owned by the Dousman family. The restoration is breath taking and you go from room to room and just imagine how... More

Very knowledgeable tour guide. Interesting and beautiful home. I had to use my walker and they were very accommodating. Warning.... there are stairs involved and so is not really handicapped accessible. Lucky I can do a few stairs.

If your in the area I highly recommend this tour. The mansion is absolutely beautiful I have been in many historic mansions and homes and none compare to this. It's a must see. The guides do a great job and are dressed in historic clothing.
