We visited the Villa Louis during the carriage racing event that they hold on the grounds each year. The lines were long, but the tours were set up to expedite the movement through the tours. Our tour guides were dressed for the period and did an amazing job of telling the history of the home and the family that lived... More

We drove past Villa Louis on a previous trip and once we got home we booked an after dark tour for a few weeks later when we were planning on going back to the area. I am not sure what is included in the regular tour, but with the after dark tour we got to tour the entire inside of... More

My wife and I drove to Prairie Du Chein last Sunday as a part of a Fall color drive along the Mississippi River. The tour begins at the Visitor Center with an admission fee (worth the $10). Tour guide takes you through the office and the mansion. You are transported into the Victorian Era. The family began as a part... More

Very good tour by local volunteers. Beautiful grounds with the mansion as the highlight. This is a chance to see gorgeous old furnishings and carefully restored rooms. They received old pictures from a descendant and have been able to match right down to items in cabinets.

In 1992, I visited Villa Louis. At that time, the renovation had just begun and it was very rundown. Well, 23 years later, I would never have known it was the same house! It is absolutely gorgeous!!!! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave a good tour. I just wish we could see more of the rooms. You have... More

My husband and I attended the Breakfast in a Victorian Kitchen event at Villa Louis. What a fantastic event! Everyone who attended was divided into pairs and was put to work on making a piece of the breakfast; using period recipes and tools and cooking on the wood burning stoves. There was ample time to look around at what others... More

Our guide was knew so much about the history of the home. The grounds are right on the Mississippi River and very picturesque. Hard to imagine this luxury in pioneer life

Beautiful gardens. Lovely walk along the river. Nice picture opportunities. Stopped for a drink at the bar next to the property. Made a nice day. Learned much on the tour. Worth the visit.
