Having visited Prairie du Chien often to visit my family that lives there, I finally got to go to the Villa Louis about a month ago. I found the tour fascinating (being a history fan) and enjoyed being able to have free reign outside, where we could walk around and look at things not just from the Villa Louis but... More

Took the tour on a whim and was glad I did. Lovely estate and very interesting tour guide. Worth the money.

tour guide wasn't friendly, I asked if I could take pictures, NO!! was her response; couldn't see much of the displays she was discussing since they use what she termed copies of original light bulbs. She also said the huge safe in the office building was made and imported from France but the name on the front of the door... More

My wife is an avid fan of Victorian homes and we were looking forward to our visit. We got a 2pm tour of the office and house. The guide was informative about the Dousman family that owned the home in the early 1800s. The home decor was excellent as it contained period pieces from the 1890s. We were disappointed as... More

Enjoyed our the Villa Louis Visitor Center (free) and purchased tickets to tour the Villa Louis residence and the Dousman Office Building and grounds. Very pleasant way to spend two hours and to get a glimpse of life for a family of wealthy in the 19th century. Would not recommend the tour for individuals that have walking disabilities.

Toured the Villa Louis today. The restorations in the last few years have made the mansion beautiful. Our guide Trevor was very knowledgeable and gave us a great tour. I also went on the Christmas tour last winter and enjoyed the decorations and music played on the piano.

Such a wonderful place with an interesting history. I have always wanted to stop here but did not have the time. I finally visited and was not disappointed at all. Our guide was very knowledgeable and great at answering any question given her. I even took some of the artisian water home! Will be going back for the Carriage Classic... More

My 13 year old daughter and I visited Villa Louis on Friday, April 24 for the Behind the Scenes tour. We were very impressed that we could actually walk into the rooms and get up closed to everything. Our tour guide (Susan) was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic! My daughter took many pictures and really enjoyed it as much as I... More

We go there 2 times a year. In the spring and in the fall. My 10 year old loves going there and is very intrigued with the history and the period dressed tour guides. 90% of the household items are original to the family. If you love history, you will love the Villa Louis
