Description: The Paine Art Center and Gardens is a historic estate with art galleries...
The Paine Art Center and Gardens is a historic estate with art galleries and display gardens, located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The historic Paine estate serves as a multi-faceted museum for learning and inspiration. The museum preserves the mansion, surrounding architectural structures, and many of the interiors as they were created by founders Nathan and Jessie Kimberly Paine. Selections from the museum's art collection, much of which was acquired by Nathan and Jessie, are featured in the many rooms and settings of the estate. Outdoors, the Paine maintains and enhances numerous display gardens as "galleries" of horticulture with varied designs and thousands of plant specimens. In addition, the museum presents a wide variety of changing art exhibitions, from historical to contemporary, within the estate's galleries and gardens. The Family Discovery Gallery, located on the house's lower level, offers "hands on" activities about architecture, art, and gardens for people of all ages.

Wow! Just saw dressing Downton at the Paine Art Center. What an amazing well kept home and grounds. They had 36 original outfits from Downton Abby. They did a great job displaying and showing the outfits. It was great that they were not behind glass and that you could see the fabric close up. I did the audio and it... More

We visited this stunning mansion today to view the "Dessing Downton" exhibit of actual costumes used in the PBS series. It was wonderful to see the costumes beautifully displayed and to learn a bit of history behind the styles and fabrics as well as the way of life. The gardens are beautiful, too.

It's a small museum and parking is tight, but it's Oshkosh and they're not exactly going to have a museum the size of Milwaukee or Madison. They have different shows for different seasons.

Made a trip to Oshkosh to see the Dressing Downton exhibit at the Paine Art Center. Thoroughly loved every minute. The exhibit pieces were on display throughout the mansion. The rooms were a beautiful backdrop for the stunning clothes. Hard to pick a favorite. Everything was beautifully done. Be sure to watch the three short videos on the art center... More

Went to see the Downton Abbey exhibit. The Museum and the exhibit were beautiful. I did also expect to see more art work. I did enjoy the Tiffany glass work that was mingled in with the period costumes. I was slightly disappointed with the gardens. They needed a little TLC. I would go again and was pleased with the visit.

Initially went for the Downton clothing exhibit - but the house alone is worth a visit. Gardens were lovely and they have plans to add another formal garden. They have different exhibits throughout the year, so we plan to return.

I went to the Paine for the Dressing Downton exhibit, which I LOVED! The Paine is beautiful with many Tiffany lamps and gorgeous furnishings. The gardens were also very well kempt with lots of plants and flowers. I'm not sure I would go here again without an exhibit. There just wasn't much to look at.

A friend and I visited the Paine Art Center to see the travelling Dowton Abbey clothing display. The fashions were wonderful to see and worth the drive from Minneapolis but the Paine Center itself was gorgeous. The home was absolutely beautiful with every detail planned and carefully arranged to fit the theme of the home and the individual room. The... More

Went to view exhibit "Dressing Downton". Beautiful mansion setting for exhibit. Gardens are nice, nothing special. Easy to see everything in an hour. The Conservatory and gardens would be lovely for a wedding.
