Description: The Paine Art Center and Gardens is a historic estate with art galleries...
The Paine Art Center and Gardens is a historic estate with art galleries and display gardens, located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The historic Paine estate serves as a multi-faceted museum for learning and inspiration. The museum preserves the mansion, surrounding architectural structures, and many of the interiors as they were created by founders Nathan and Jessie Kimberly Paine. Selections from the museum's art collection, much of which was acquired by Nathan and Jessie, are featured in the many rooms and settings of the estate. Outdoors, the Paine maintains and enhances numerous display gardens as "galleries" of horticulture with varied designs and thousands of plant specimens. In addition, the museum presents a wide variety of changing art exhibitions, from historical to contemporary, within the estate's galleries and gardens. The Family Discovery Gallery, located on the house's lower level, offers "hands on" activities about architecture, art, and gardens for people of all ages.

As a family, we visit the Paine every December for the Nutcracker event. Each time they add a new twist as well as sticking with their time tested favorites. It's become a Christmas tradition!

Attended a wedding in the gardens, it was absolutely lovely ..a gorgeous old building with character that you don't often find anyplace anymore! Well manicured lawns and gardens and well kept buildings. They hold a lot of wonderful events here, I especially like the Christmas decor and events, flower shows, exhibits. A must see if you are in Oshkosh, WI

My wife and I, along with our friends Dan and Nancy, visited The Paine Art Center and Gardens on Feb. 28 to see the “Winslow Homer in America” exhibit. The exhibition features 125 original wood engravings from his work from the late 1850’s through the mid-1870’s, which includes a number of Civil War scenes. I found this exhibition quite interesting... More

We took a shopping break on Black Friday and did the self guided tour of the Nutcracker in the castle with our teen aged granddaughter. The house was beautiful and the Xmas decorations amazing. The trees were all different and rooms told the story of the Nutcracker. The docent in the gift shop was very knowledgeable. Even our granddaughter got... More

We visited the Paine Art Center and Gardens this morning. The house was fascinating. It's huge and was built to replicate a home that has been in a family across the centuries so the decor of the house changes from room to room as if it's been built onto. The grounds are lovely though they are not extensive. Be sure... More

My parents came to visit and they love to see old houses and some history. The Matisse exhibit was very cool, interesting to see some drawings and etchings that you don't normally get. I personally enjoyed the gardens even more than the house. Find a gorgeous day and check them out!

The Paine home is fantastic. The gardens are worth spending time there. The art exhibit was informative and new to me. Entrance fee was a little high.

the Paine is a surprise bit of culture in this old rust belt town. a current exhibit of glass artistry is fascinating. The museum building, the Paines house in which they never lived is a work of art in itself. Well worth a visit.

This is a stop for every old house enthusiast. The architecture is divine and the story so worth hearing. The exhibits I've had the opportunity to experience have been wonderfully done. The Christmas season is especially worth the time to go to the Paine Art Center.
