The historic Paine estate serves as a multi-faceted museum for learning and inspiration. The museum preserves the mansion, surrounding architectural structures, and many of the interiors as they were created by founders Nathan and Jessie Kimberly Paine. Selections from the museum's art collection, much of which was acquired by Nathan and Jessie, are featured in the many rooms and settings of the estate. Outdoors, the Paine maintains and enhances numerous display gardens as "galleries" of horticulture with varied designs and thousands of plant specimens. In addition, the museum presents a wide variety of changing art exhibitions, from historical to contemporary, within the estate's galleries and gardens. The Family Discovery Gallery, located on the house's lower level, offers "hands on" activities about architecture, art, and gardens for people of all ages. « less

This is one attraction you can come back to and visit time and time again, and still find new things. Very family friendly as far as the exhibits and displays go, although young children may not find things as interesting (They do have a small children's area). The gardens (when in bloom) provide a feeling of serenity and peace, as... More

Read between lines and check out the real history of the Paine. The family never moved in due to death threats from the under-paid laborers that lived in the row houses by the river. The workers threatened to blow up the hose if the Paines moved in, when the workers families were poor and owed everything to the rich Mr.... More

Enjoyed the "Rooms of Blooms" with our 7 yr old granddaughter who thought it was just lovely! Our favorite is the "Nutcracker in the Castle" during the Christmas season! The Paine offers so many great exhibits year round for young and old. Keeping the arts alive!

A wonderful museum with a rich local history. Exhibits change every few months and the Christmas events are worth a special trip. The gardens are spectacular spring through fall.

Visited this museum during the summer when the Tiffany Glass Exhibit was there. It was breathtaking. The Art Center is very nice, with lovely exhibits and nice grounds. The display of annual flowers was gorgeous.

Beautiful building and grounds—such a nice oasis for Oshkosh. The Nutcracker is now a family tradition. We always take the guided tour. Rooms of Blooms will be coming up shortly! Looking forward to that as well. The Paine is such a nice place and so well done. With our annual family pass ($75) many times we go just to walk... More

The museum is a beautiful, historical mansion, with wonderfully landscaped gardens. They continually make improvements and add activities. The Nutcracker display and performance at Christmas was enhanced by the addition of the Sugar Plum Fairy house, where kids can make their own cupcakes. The art collection is special, as well.

Visited it two different times for special exhibits. They were both done very well. Heard the grounds are beautiful during the spring/summer blooming time. Hope to go there during Xmas next year!

Beautifully decorated art museum for Christmas - Nutcracker theme. The Sugar Plum Fairy was dancing ballet in the dining area for guests, who could also enjoy a beautifully decorated cupcakes. They have tour guides dressed like the Nutcracker characters & ballerinas performing to songs from the Nutcracker!! Truly unique & beautiful!

We had never been to the Paine Art Center before and I'm glad we finally stopped. It is beautifully decorated for Christmas and the Nutcracker story. We took the "candlelight tour" however other than handing you a battery operated candle and heavy candle holder, there is nothing different about this tour. There is no need to have a "candle" which... More
