The Paine Art Center and Gardens is a historic estate with art galleries and display gardens, located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

The historic Paine estate serves as a multi-faceted museum for learning and inspiration. The museum preserves the mansion, surrounding architectural structures, and many of the interiors as they were created by founders Nathan and Jessie Kimberly Paine. Selections from the museum's art collection, much of which was acquired by Nathan and Jessie, are featured in the many rooms and settings of the estate. Outdoors, the Paine maintains and enhances numerous display gardens as "galleries" of horticulture with varied designs and thousands of plant specimens. In addition, the museum presents a wide variety of changing art exhibitions, from historical to contemporary, within the estate's galleries and gardens. The Family Discovery Gallery, located on the house's lower level, offers "hands on" activities about architecture, art, and gardens for people of all ages.

The Nutcracker Christmas display is fantastic! The mansion is all decorated for the holidays. On weekends they have dancers performing, but you need to reserve seating for that (very limited seating ). They have 75 trees beautifully decorated and many nutcrackers displayed inside.

Attended the Nutcracker festivities at the Paine Art Center. The gorgeous building was decorated for the season with a Nutcracker theme. Actors take you through each room in keeping with the famous story. Very well done. The tea room in the garden also had a special cupcake tea with beautiful cakes for consuming and just for looking.

I had never been to this Museum. It is a hidden gem. The history of it is very interesting. It was the perfect venue for the Downton exhibit.

Awesome place to go and unwind. It's a little piece of history, hidden right in the heart of the city. They have a botanical garden out back that you go for a nice summer evening stroll. I know my mother brought me and my brother and sister here as kids to take pictures.

They were setting up for a wedding the day we visited. The grounds and flowers were so pretty. The house was not open. They were closing a display of outfits from Downton Abbey and sending along to the next site.

The architecture, the English gardens, and above all else, the exhibits make our sojourn to the Paine a bi-yearly experience. We have such fond memories of UW-Oshkosh Art Department and from the 60's to the present, the Paine plays an I portent role In our experiencing ambience and Art!!! If you are heading to Oshkosh, treat yourself to this magnificent... More

My husband wasn't going to go at first. He thought there would be too many women's fashioned. Was he surprised to find that there were just as many men's fashion's. We both enjoyed the show very much. We live in town and go to the Paine at least 5 times a year. The gardens are wonderful too. My girlfriend and... More

The exhibits are always worth seeing. However, my favorite part is the history of the Paine house and the intricate architecture and artwork throughout the home. Every summer the gardens are beautiful as well, and are free with Admission.

The Dressing Downton exhibit was fantastic! The curator(s) nicely displayed the costumes in various rooms of this magnificent home. Though the exhibit is finished, I would visit the Paine again for the wonderful architecture, period pieces, and stunning gardens. Well worth the time!
