Description: The Paine Art Center and Gardens is a historic estate with art galleries...
The Paine Art Center and Gardens is a historic estate with art galleries and display gardens, located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The historic Paine estate serves as a multi-faceted museum for learning and inspiration. The museum preserves the mansion, surrounding architectural structures, and many of the interiors as they were created by founders Nathan and Jessie Kimberly Paine. Selections from the museum's art collection, much of which was acquired by Nathan and Jessie, are featured in the many rooms and settings of the estate. Outdoors, the Paine maintains and enhances numerous display gardens as "galleries" of horticulture with varied designs and thousands of plant specimens. In addition, the museum presents a wide variety of changing art exhibitions, from historical to contemporary, within the estate's galleries and gardens. The Family Discovery Gallery, located on the house's lower level, offers "hands on" activities about architecture, art, and gardens for people of all ages.

What a gorgeous house with gorgeous grounds - the Paine Art Center & Gardens is a lovely stop when traveling in the area. We planned to detour from our annual trip to Door County to see the Dressing Downtown exhibit and were SO glad we did. A great exhibit for any fan of the show; the house was the perfect... More

We visited The Paine Art Center and Gardens last week. It was the first week of the Downton Exhibit. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing the actual outfits worn by the Downton Abby actors. The descriptions and explanations of the pieces and styles were wonderful. I also purchased, $8, the audio handset for further descriptions than the signboards. The added information on... More

If you get close to Oshkosh, Wisconsin this summer, please check out the "Dressing Downton Exhibit" at the Paine Art Center and Gardens. The original clothes used in the filming of Downton Abbey are on display throughout the Tudor mansion. You can also enjoy a leisurely walk through the beautiful gardens that surround the Art Center.

This historical building is a mecca of beauty. Multiple times a year there are different Art exhibits as well as events held here. My favorite is Christmas with the Nutcracker and dancing lighted tours. In the sitting and summer the gardens are bursting with beauty as well and the new addition carriage house. There are many weddings held here per... More

OK, so I'm a Downtown addict & a Paine member, but if you just love all things Downtown, this exhibit of outfits worn by various characters from seasons 1-4 is NOT to be missed. Beautifully crafted from impressive fabrics, the men's & women's ensembles will take you right back to the scene where you first saw them. The Paine is... More

This was an awesome stop! The art and furnishings in the house were incredible. It took about an hour and a half to get through the house. The gardens were just as impressive! Loy's of nooks and crannies to explore, with natives plants and fun sculptures. There are lots of spots to take a seat and admire the setting. I... More

The Paine Art Center and Gardens is a beautiful spot to visit anytime of the year. I always make time to take out of town friends and relatives here for a stroll through the gardens or to take in the latest exhibit. There is always something new and beautiful to enjoy. A must see destination in Oshkosh.
