I rode the Lake Express ferry round trip from Muskegon to Milwaukee on a weekend in early October. It was a great experience. I would definitely recommend the ferry to others looking to avoid the drive through Chicago. The crossing is only 2.5 hours, the passenger cabin is spacious and comfortable, and there are food and drinks available for purchase... More

My mother and I took this trip recently, heading from the east coast to Lake Geneva. The ferry seemed like a good option since it would cut down on a full day’s driving, so it shortened our trip considerably. For us, it was a bit tricky logistically, since my mother uses a wheelchair, and we were taking the car. But... More

At $95 per person with or without a car and the additional cost it represents, this is not cheap but compaired to driving from Muskegon, Grand Rapids, Holland or Kalamazoo, MI to get to Wisconsin through Chicago, it is worth it. It may even compare favorably to the cost of gas and certainly the anguish. The ferry is very comfortable... More

What a pleasant surprise to travel to Michigan aboard a very efficient ferry. The greeting staff to park the car were professional yet friendly in their TSA official capacity checking ID etc. The terminal is very clean and modern. The ride over was not "wavy" but very sleek and smooth to enjoy the ride. Food prices were competitive with other... More

This was a great experience and saved a lot of time on a trip to Detroit for me and my vehicle. Way cheaper than flying and renting a car in Detroit.

We took the "fast ferry" (Lake Express) from Milwaukee to Muskegon, and back, after our trip in Michigan and Canada. We're not sure it saved a lot of time compared to driving, but it certainly saved a lot of headache driving through the Chicago area. We arrived at 5:15 to board the ferry for the 6:00 a.m. trip. The ferry... More

Reading some of the other reviews, I feel relieved to have made it across the lake and back in one piece. My trip was perfect; I loved it! If I kept a bucket list, I would add this and check it off: it was a very interesting experience. I had to travel to Milwaukee for a conference, requiring a drive... More

Took the 12:30 ferry on August 20 2013 out of Milwaukee to Michigan and there were no problems. A little pricier than the Badger, but the short trip was worth not having to fight traffic through Chicago and Indiana. We boarded on time, everything was "shipshape", the seating was better than some planes I've been on. A movie was available... More

We booked one way passage for my husband, myself, our two children, and the car. We had room and dinner reservations waiting in Michigan. Arrived over an hour early only to be told that the ferry was cancelled. Rude customer service and no "We're sorry" or any suggestion of a later ferry. When I asked, they said that our home... More

Just took the Lake Express from Milwaukee to Muskegon. No vehicle. A bit pricey, but for the 2.5 hour trip, probably worth it if you can justify the need. Didn't buy food onboard - no prices listed, and there were complaints about the high prices. Regular seating was not very comfortable - seat cushions were very hard. Seat backs recline... More
