I tried to fly round trip from Milwaukee to Grand Rapids to visit friends an found that it involved a change of planes in Salt Lake City. I little research and I found the Lake Express. It cut the travel time of seven hours by air to 5 hours by boat and the cost was lower by $75.00. Smooth ride... More

We took Lake Express from Muskegon to Milwaukee and we’d do it again if we found ourselves out that way. This high-speed boat makes the crossing in about 2-1/2 hours. Even on a windy day, with the water sometimes a bit choppy, the ride was smooth. The cabin seating is comfortable, vinyl-upholstered chairs, most with small tables in front for... More

plan ahead if you are traveling on a holiday week...especially if you want to bring a car or your dog. waited to long to make a reservation and had to leave car behind and due to no seating in coach had to travel in premium class which is nice becasue it has power outlets, bigger seats and wait service.

They just cancelled our scheduled return crossing and said "the money is returned to the credit card". Like the problem is solved by just returning the money. No problem to leave us stuck in Milwaukee. Terrible service and last time we used this ferry.

I purchased my ferry ticket online, but the emailed receipt said that I booked a 6:00am trip rather than the 12:30pm trip I tried to purchase. I'm not sure if I clicked the wrong time or if it defaulted back to the 6:00 time when entering in my other information. Regardless of the mix up, I thought I could easily... More

I take this ferry about 5 times a year. I have a option to take the car ferry called the badger out of Manitowoc but choose to take the high speed ferry because of how fast it takes about 2 1/2 hours to cross Lake Michigan and I avoid Chicago. The badger is a fun ship and if your not... More

We rode the Lake-Express with our motorcycles to Muskegon. This was my second time taking it, and luckily, the water was fairly smooth, albeit very cold! Last time, several years ago, the Lake was a bit angry and the ride was not pleasant most of the way. At any rate, our voyage this time was nice and rather uneventful. Although,... More

We took the Lake-Express Ferry as part of a motorcycle tour called RydeGuide "Lakes & Libations". What an amazing way to cross the fifth largest lake in the world. The ferry is the quickest mode of transportation across Lake Michigan; 2½ hours. We took the 6:00 a.m. — just in time to witness the magnificent sunrise. What an awe inspiring... More

I have had occasion to use this service twice and both times it was a great experience. I have gone as a passenger and rented an auto on the MI side and I have taken my truck as well. Usually I do this when I have a trip to Canada as I can take the 12:30 PM boat and drive... More

Tickets are a little more then I would like to pay but it certainly beats Chicago traffic! The ship is very nice and takes small to medium sized waves in stride. Dogs ride for free but need to be in a special kennel area for the trip. I don't usually bring my car but the process for loading vehicles is very... More
