This is a vintage Art Deco theater that specializes in indie movies. There is delicious crispy popcorn here, and the snack selection is eclectic. The largest theater is something to behold and will keep newcomers occupied before the movies start.

We loved our trip to the Oriental last night! At nearly 90 years old, this cinema has charm and character in abundance. You could spend the length of an entire movie just exploring its nooks and crannies, from the Buddha sculptures to the movie posters, original chandeliers...you name it! What's on is slightly more than your standard big-budget fare. It's... More

Oriental Theater isn't known by all in Milwaukee but it's one of the coolest little chic places around. Not only does it have movies, but it is also a great place that hosts speakers and lectures.

For anyone who appreciates the vintage theater experience, The Oriental is worth a visit. Try to catch a movie in the "main room" -- the center theater (it's a Triplex now) -- so you can watch a movie while all the Buddhas watch You. The architecture is a combination of East Indian, Moorish, Islamic, and Byzantine architecture -- beautiful wall... More

This is as grand as it gets. Go see a movie here if you get the chance. You will not regret it. The architecture and upkeep of the facility is outstanding. Everything is reasonably priced. They just don't make them like this anymore. Service from the attendants with any questions was superb. Highly recommend this place. Parking was on the... More

You have to go to the Oriental and see a movie and see what this theatre is all about. It is very old/ornate and will fascinate you. Beautiful gold ornate statues, two stories, and always has a good movie or two playing. Popcorn and refreshments available, including beer and wine. Whee!

A beautiful theatre from the past! You will not see a theatre with such elegance again. In the heart of the bustling east side with plenty of restaurants available

This theater has been rpeserved in the 1927 ornate Oriental style it was built in. Contains one of the largest working pipe organs in the world, which is still occasionally used during showings such as the original black and white version of "The Phantom of the Opera" during Halloween week. Also shows "audience participation" runs of "The Rocky Horror Picture... More

The Oriental has a beautiful, ornate, spectacular interior which evokes a sense of old-world splendor. Screen is large, seating adequate, and was well sound-proofed. The popcorn at the concession stand was sold in lavish portions.

A old fashion movie house with three screens and a lobby that's worth the visit all by itself, The Oriental theater is a Milwaukee landmark. Offering first run movies mixed in with indy films, The Oriental has been entertaining Milwaukeeans and visitors for decades. And they serve the best popcorn in town!!
