This theatre is a real treasure! Built in 1927, it features a highly ornate, two-storey lobby. There is gilding and East Indian decor all around. Completed with hand-drawn murals!

The theater is really beautiful and shows some of the best films which are usually not showing elsewhere.

The Oriental is one of only a couple theaters in the Milwaukee area that I go to. It is just beautiful inside! On Fridays & Saturdays the 7pm show in the main theater is introduced by a giant pipe organ. They also have beer, wine and espresso along with the standard movie snacks. Defintely a change to the standard movie-going... More

Looking for a theater megacomplex with whatever movies are currently showing everywhere - this is NOT the place for you. But if you're looking for independent films that you won't see anyplace else (except the Downer, it's sister theater that is nearby) AND want to just walk around to see the incredible display of art deco anything and everything, then... The Oriental is one of the best things about living in Milwaukee! It is a beautiful old theater, and the management and staff are attentive and kind.

It's been a while since I attended anything at the Oriental but an opportunity to attend a film offered only there brought me back. I was not at all disappointed. It's a beautiful place, royal and regal.

Tremendous atmosphere! No crowding to distract from enjoyment of film. Lovely, huge screen! The movie, itself, was definitely worth watching--a poignant love-story set in pre-war and war-time Japan. Rivals any American love story of the era!!

This theater transports we seniors to another era. It is a wonderful theater that shows movies not easily found in other venues.

wonderful location, theatre, seating and decor made for a very fun afternoon to see a movie before dinner. Parking in the area is quite easy as well.

If you like nostalgia of 1920s theater and interesting design, visit The Oriental. See a movie in the big house, sit mid room on the floor (the balcony can't control the heat or the AC, so it's either hot or cold). The theater is majestic in it's own unique way, restored and slightly renovated to accommodate two additional smaller screens.... More
