Wednesdays at noon you can take a free tour that lasts about 20 minutes of the green roof. It's kind of a big deal as it was one of the first to be done in Milwaukee. It has solar panels and sedum plants. There's also a section in the library which focuses on being more green- has some information running... More

This beautiful building was built in the early 1900's. It has a great entryway. This building is a test of time. It is a must see when in the Downtown Milwaukee area. It has a lot to see, more then just books and reading material.

I did not walk around the library much. I just went into the lobby and took some pictures. It was extremely beautiful. It was worth just going in just to see that. I'm a huge fan of architecture and engineering marvels.

Cool building ~ A great way to enjoy it is to take the Free Tour on Saturdays at 1:30pm. You'll learn about the architecture, the history, and services that they provide to the community.

Even links with Marquette's Graduate Law Library, when necessary!! They will bend over backwards to track down any book in their system, no matter how obscure or infrequently-read it is!

This is one of the iconic old public buildings that still has the cool stuff. THe lobby has been redone to the original splendor- mosaic tile floor, fake marble columns, high ceiling, etc. Even the stacks are fun to walk around in.

Nice Architectural Detail inside and out. Nice place to go to relax a little bit. The staff seem friendly that I spoke with. If walking there from downtown areas or the University the neighborhood is OK. I would still be aware of your surroundings. Not sure how it would be at night time in that location. If it part of... Toured the Library with Doors Open Milwaukee. The lobby and dome area were beautiful maintained and architecturally magnificent. We toured the attic above the dome, the old 4th floor offices but missed the roof top garden.

Free internet, and employees that are willing to help. I especially like the downtown library. A lot of homeless, but I don't mind it. hey never bothered me. Great kids section as well!

We were looking for something kid-friendly to do on a rainy evening. The library is open until 8 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday. It has beautiful architecture and numerous displays about the area (both historical and current). The Betty Brinn Children's Room has play areas, including a light house play structure, train table, and, puppet theater, and the beautiful Hans... More
