Great atmosphere, many shops; cheese shop Usinger sausage, beer and good German food. Have some fun as we did and visit several. Walk along the street then choose a place for a cool drink, sit outside and just watch the people.

Great places to grab a beer and some food, from the Old German Beer hall to Mader's, and many other watering holes. And stopping at the cheese shop and Usinger's sausage shop are musts.

At one time, this section of N. 3rd St. was considered the "Downtown" of Milwaukee's large German population. It's been said that shopkeepers used to hang signs in the window saying "English spoken here" in order to not discourage non-Germans from bringing business. Legendary and iconic Milwaukee businesses like Usinger's, Schlitz and Schuster's Dept. Store were staples on the street.... More

Great street through the center of Milwaukee which includes a downtown mall on the south end; several must shop foodies stores (Usingers Sausage, The Spice House - the place for every spice, walk in just for the smell, and the Wisconsin Cheese Mart... All on the same block); and ethnic food including a great German restaurant - Mader's and a... More

We were able to hit up a couple of the bars in the area for a recent bachelorette party. Had a great time, however is SUPER busy before an event, ie Brewers game. But if you're looking for a high energy environment, this is a great place to be. Most of the bars in the area offer free shuttles to... More

This is where to come to find Wisconsin products such as cheese, sausage, and especially beer. There are a number of very good restaurants in these few blocks. It is a nice place to spend a few hours in the afternoon. We were back in the evening for dinner. The shops were not open then.

Maybe it's just weekends in a walkie or maybe it was the minus 8 weather but this is a nice place just a little bit dead. Plenty of restaurants and a few bars not too many other kind of shops, but maybe I'm just missing them

I grew up in the Milwaukee area, and when my wife and I visit from Atlanta now we always go to Old World Third. We stock up on spices at The Spice House (which is the company that Alton Brown of Food Network fame gets *his* spices from), then we get our sausage fix from Usinger's, and finally we top... More

What can be wrong with a sunny fall Saturday afternoon and stopping in Usingers Store and filling your cooler with a wide assortment of great sausages & sauerkrat and then walking across the street to the Old German Beer Hall and having a stein of HB at one of the sidewalk tables? Ein prosit!! Enjoy!

Maybe because we went on a Sunday afternoon... but there was nothing really to do. There were bars & a cheese shop & a spice shop. I was expecting some nice shops with shopping. Not so much... Planned on spending the afternoon downtown area & only took a couple of hours,
