Could have spent a lot more time than we had to spare in this interesting museum - a house filled with treasures from Mr. Chudnow's collection especially of Milwaukee history and artifacts. Each of the many rooms held treasures, set up in realistic displays of a soda fountain, doctor's office, shoe store, movie theater, pharmacy, toy store, hidden-away speakeasy, cigar... More

We are grateful you were able to spend some time with us. If you visit us again, we do change exhibits as the Cigar Store was just completed at the end of March 2014. We always offer guided tours for free to all visitors. Thank you for the review! More

Our 10 yr old granddaughter enjoyed our tour. She was able to push some buttons that told stories or played music from the 1920s. Takes about an hour, tops, to go through the building. Modest admission fees. Get a docent if you can. They know so much and make it so interesting. Very friendly staff. Parking is behind the building.... More

Thank you for the review! We are always interested to hear what visitors enjoyed about their experience. The shop displays are mostly filled with Milwaukee items but places all over America were turning out similar items. We do try to make a point of displaying well known, existing companies. More

We were looking for a small museum to visit in downtown Milwaukee during recent daycation. Our group included 2 reluctant teenagers and a skeptical husband - but the friendly and knowledgeable staff along with the interesting artifacts soon won everyone over. Since the museum is in a house, built in 1869, it was just right amount of history and length... More

Wonderful to read that you found something the whole family could enjoy. Our staff agrees that the stories behind the artifacts, stores and companies are what really brings history alive. Thank you for your visit! More

This little museum is worth a visit if you have an hour to spend, and don't have time for a larger museum. I really enjoyed it. Each room in the museum depicts a different shop or business 'back in the day'. There is a barbershop, pharmacy, grocer, shoe store, etc. This was my first time in a speakeasy! There are... More

Thank you for visiting and writing a review! As you wrote, most people spend about an hour per visit and we offer a free guided tour or you can go self-guided. Our speakeasy is guaranteed "raid proof". More

The docents are very friendly and knowledgeable. It is a small house with a terriific collection of memorabilia. The house has replicas of a pharmacy, speakeasy, toy sotre and much, much more. It is a neighborhood gem.

We (volunteers at the Marcus Center) were treated to an evening at the Chudnow. I had never even heard of it before, but was pleasantly surprised!

We were very excited to host the Marcus Center volunteers. So many people joined in with the Roaring 20s theme and the building is a perfect surrounding for that. We are glad you attended and thank you for your review! More

This is a great little museum in an older Cream City Brick building - if you like the streets of Milwaukee in the Public Museum this is right up your alley - they have made each room of the house into a different store interior - you must love this! It is not large, you will probably go through it... More

This was fun... The old mansion and its contents are right in front of you, room after room filled with curiosities, antiques and ephemeral objects. Instead of gawking at items that are a bit too far away and seemingly precious, here one can almost stick one's nose right up to these misc. bits of a different time. It feels like... More

Our late founder would be extremely pleased to hear that is what you felt. For many years his extended family enjoyed just that experience with the growing collection at his house. We are so very glad you visited and thank you for the review! More

This wonderful museum showcases glimpses of what life was like in the 1920's Milwaukee. Im very much a history nerd for the 1920s, and being able to see some interesting artifacts up close as well as some interesting new facts, made this my favorite stop in Milwaukee. The museum only costs $5 and you can get through it in an... More
