The Milwaukee Symphony is another under-rated American symphony, its quality and potential made apparent by the experienced, acclaimed directors it has been able to attract (primary example: Lucas Foss). Despite the tough times for "live" music of any stripe, there are outstanding musicians in the Chicago-Milwaukee corridor. Although I question the need for (and quality of) the symphonies in smaller... More

The MSO is a consistently excellent group that displays a willingness to be adventuresome with their programs - they frequently include pieces by recent/living composers on the program along with standard and popular repetoire. They provide performance opportunities for their own talented members as well as featuring well-known international performers. They contribute to making Milwaukee a more sophisticated and cosmopolitan... More

Kids concerts are perfect for younger audiences. The stories woven through the performances add so much.

This concert had 3 Broadway singers perform with the symphony. There was a great variety of songs from the 50s & 60s. I never felt the need to check the time which goes to show that the performance kept my attention the whole time!

The vocalists and the orchestra were wonderful. It was fun to hear Mack the Knife and Unchained Melody.

had a year's subscription some time ago and enjoyed it very much. Doc Severinson was a highlight. Sad to say it is one of the things iI had to give up when Obama crapped on our economy.

I had heard a commercial on a Milwaukee radio station that the orchesta was hosting a performance which would highlight the songs of Frankie Valley and the 4 Seasons and that one of the singers from the Jersey Boys would be one of the performers. First of all, on the orchestra's website I asked for "best ticket" available and it... More

We saw the MSO perform Bartok's "Bluebeard"-- with stunning glass sets by Dale Chihuly. The two singers were excellent, and though the opera is in Hungarian, the titles (above the stage) were easily readable English translations. The Mozart horn concerto was delightful, too.

Enjoyed an evening with Doc Severson and selections from Progy and Bess with my teenage daughter. Nice to step it up a notch to a quality symphony and yet stay in WI- with affordable hotels and dining in the area, we can make a weekend of it and feel elegant yet it's affordable. Looking forward to attending a concert in... More
